Super Mario 64 has plenty of 1-Up Mushrooms to find. Yet there’s one in particular that has really been making the rounds online over the past few days.
Inside Whomp’s Fortress, you can smash a breakable wall in the tower midway through the level. Doing so reveals a secret 1-Up Mushroom to collect.
Here’s a look:
How many of you were aware of this secret before? Based on the popularity of the above clip, it seems like quite a few players missed it originally!
Game Informer previewed Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World this month, providing some new details in the process. The magazine also put out a one-page preview on Mario Sports Superstars. We now have a little bit of extra information on this game as well.
In case you haven’t heard, Mario Sports Superstars features five different sports: soccer, baseball, tennis golf, and the surprise inclusion of horse racing. Game Informer notes that single matches and tournaments can be played. You start out by choosing a couple of captains comprised of the bigger characters such as Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Bowser. The rest of the team is then filled in with less prominent characters like Goombas, Magikoopas, and different costumed Toads.
Arcade elements will naturally be a part of the Mario Sports Superstars experience. Game Informer mentions special moves and abilities. The magazine also says that when pitching in baseball, it’s timing-based.
That was mostly it. Not quite as much here compared to Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World, but some extra tidbits. Since these previews are starting to appear, maybe we’ll see more hands-on impressions (and hopefully footage) from other outlets soon.

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is out now, but only for a select group. Those who backed the game at the Early Access reward tier on Kickstarter received a PC code for the final version a couple of days ago. A massive amount of Shantae: Half-Genie Hero footage can be found below.
Derby Stallion isn’t the most recognizable gaming franchise out there, but it’s been around since the Famicom days. The horse-racing / simulation series also just saw a new entry on 3DS back in 2014. Now it has a chance of reaching another Nintendo platform.
Parity Bit is examining the possibility of bringing Derby Stallion to Switch, according to Toyo Keizai. The company’s Hiroyuki Sonobe, who is also the creator of series, shared the news with the Japanese publication.
For those who haven’t been keeping track of the series, here’s some footage of Derby Stallion Gold on 3DS:
