At Gamescom, the ESL hosted Splatoon Showdown, an official eSports tournament. Game producer Hisashi Nogami was in attendance and took on a few interview questions during the event.

Nogami talked about the competitive scene, how Nintendo approached development for Splatoon, and his favorite weapon. You can watch the full interview below.

The 2016 Olympics have come to an end. To close out the event, a special ceremony was held, and it featured a surprise “appearance” from Nintendo’s most well-known franchise.

A video was shown of Mario as the Olympics finish in Rio, but transitions to the next event to be held in Tokyo four years from now. It even featured Japan’s prime minister wearing Mario’s signature hat. Naturally there was a Warp Pipe as well!

We’ve known for a few days now that Major League Baseball has approved the sale of Nintendo of America’s majority stake in the Seattle Mariners. An additional notice has since been posted on Nintendo’s investor relations website, confirming a sales amount of $661 million.

Just like we heard last week, “it will take some time to calculate and confirm the impact of this sale”. Nintendo intends to share this information once it’s available.

Nintendo of America still retains 10 percent ownership in the Mariners.

Within the past week, we heard about the scrapped Epic Donald, which would have been the third entry in the overall Epic Mickey series. Aside from that, Disney was also tossing around the idea of a spin-off project called “Epic Disney Racers” at some point.

The game was to include characters from the main Disney animated canon as well as ones from Epic Mickey. Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, The Mad Doctor, Scrooge McDuck & Huey, Dewey and Louie, and Cruella De Vil have been shown in concept art.

Aside from that, there’s not too much else to go on. Co-op appears to have been considered, and the ability to attack other racers with a character exclusive weapon, such as Mickey’s brush, Oswald’s remote, and Dewey/Louie’s exploding money bags. You’d also be able to see damage on the vehicles.

Pokemon GO doesn’t have a new patch to download, but users have noticed that a server-side update has been pushed out. Reddit user NaestaChalmers provides a summary of what’s been detected thus far:

– New movesets for some Pokemon (confirmed by Game_Master file)
– Dodging changed to general max. 75% damage evasion (confirmed by Game_Master file)
– Regional spawn rates increased heavily (confirmed by obvious observations)
– Increased potion drop rates (highly likely due to multiple observations and testing)
– Rare spawn increase in general (highly likely due to multiple observations)
– Faster egg hatch updates (likely due to observations and minor tests – needs more testing)
– Nest changes, needs to be further elaborated (unlikely: some observations but no general evidence, most did not change)

Niantic is committed to updating Pokemon GO on a regular basis. A new iOS and Android patch will likely go live in the near future.

If you buy Pirate Pop Plus once, you won’t have to worry about purchasing the game on another Nintendo platform. 13AM Games told Nintendo World Report that cross-buy is planned. That means if you pick up the game on either Wii U or New 3DS, you’ll get the other version free.
