Cancelled Toys “R” Us amiibo pre-orders involving PayPal or gift cards not automatically reinstated, but can be reordered
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
Toys “R” Us started sending out emails yesterday about amiibo pre-orders that were accidentally cancelled due to an internal error. You likely received one of two messages. The first one states that your order (or orders) was automatically reinstated. We’re also now aware of a second that informs consumers that their pre-order couldn’t be reinstated, but the items can be re-ordered.
So what’s the difference? Toys “R” Us has explained that those who paid with PayPal or gift cards couldn’t have their orders return automatically. Still, the retailer will soon send out instructions about how they can reorder their item.
The difference is in fact due to the form of payment. If paid through PayPal or gift card it is not possible to automatically reinstate an order. However, as mentioned, all customers will receive communication with instructions on if they need to and how to reorder their item.
Toys “R” Us reinstating some cancelled amiibo pre-orders
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 4 Comments
Late last week, Toys “R” Us cancelled a slew of amiibo pre-orders. We later learned that the issues came about due to an error within the retailer’s system, and the company was working on bringing back reservations.
Emails going out today confirm that Toys “R” Us is working on reinstating pre-orders. Keep track of future updates from the retailer. Here’s hoping any figures pre-ordered that were wrongly cancelled will be successfully restored.

A Reggie Fils-Aime amiibo won’t be coming out anytime soon, but that doesn’t mean Nintendo can’t make a joke about it! The company’s American subsidiary did just that with a new post on Facebook yesterday. View it below:

Toys “R” Us says Lucario amiibo pre-orders aren’t being cancelled
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 4 Comments
Toys “R” Us cancelled a truckload of amiibo pre-orders earlier today. Chances are if you had a figure reserved there, you received an email notice today that your reservation had been canned.
It appears that – at least for the Lucario amiibo – cancelled orders came about due to a “technical issue”. Joystiq reports that pre-orders for the figure will be honored.
Toys “R” Us said:
“We thank you for your patience as we work to remedy this situation and ensure our customers receive the products ordered.”
Target apparently not taking anymore pre-orders for Rosalina & Luma amiibo
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 10 Comments
There were two very brief periods earlier this week when consumers could get online pre-orders in for the Rosalina & Luma amiibo over at Target. We didn’t mention that here since we assumed reservations would be available for a decent amount of time much like the Shulk, Meta Knight, and Lucario figures, which are exclusive to GameStop, Best Buy, and Toys “R” Us respectively. However, that’s apparently not the case.
Target’s PR team has provided the response below about the Rosalina pre-order situation:
“Rosalina Amiibo pre-orders were available on Target.com and based on guest demand, sold out quickly. Target stores and Target.com will begin to sell actual units on February 1, 2015.”
When asked if this means online pre-orders are finished for Rosalina, Target said: “That is correct”.
Toys “R” Us cancels a bunch of amiibo pre-orders, re-opens reservations for Lucario and more
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 14 Comments
Last night, Toys “R” Us went on an amiibo cancelling binge. I would know, as I received three such notices for Lucario, Pit, and Captain Falcon.
Strangely enough, several amiibo are now back in stock and are available for pre-order again – namely Lucario, Ike, and King Dedede. Hopefully Toys “R” Us doesn’t pull any additional stunts!
Rumor: Best Buy Canada rep suggets more retailer-exclusive amiibo planned
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Rumors | 9 Comments
Four retailer-exclusive amiibo have already been confirmed for North America. Shulk will only be available at GameStop, Best Buy is the exclusive store for Meta Knight, Lucario is at Toys “R” Us, and Target has Rosalina and Luma.
This might not be the end of retailer-exclusive amiibo, sadly. Check out this message from one Best Buy Canada representative:

Having anything be retailer-exclusive isn’t what anyone wants to see. I guess we’ll see how this plays out!

Miyamoto hints at amiibo support for Zelda Wii U, Star Fox Wii U
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 5 Comments
Will Zelda Wii U and Star Fox Wii U make use of amiibo? It certainly sounds like it.
During Shigeru Miyamoto’s recent interview with iJustine, he indicated that both titles will feature amiibo integration of some sort. Specifics were not shared, however.
Miyamoto said:
“I can’t really say just yet… but we do plan on doing something so that people who have amiibo will get some enjoyment out of having amiibo and using them in those games.”
