PoPoLoCrois Farm Story’s release date is fast approaching, so Marvelous has been sending out updates in quick succession. The latest news surrounding the game covers a town Prince Pietro will visit and a few key characters.

Here’s the latest:

– Pietro will come across the town of “Cordan”
– Cordan is located in the northwestern part of Garaliland, the Autumn Lands of the Cordan Region
– Since Cordan is nearing its harvest season, it’s been getting a lot of visitors lately
– Hero/mayor named Berg is in the town
– “Man Who Lives By the Cannon” is here as well
– Both characters seem to know about the recent happenings of Garailand
– There’s also been talks about a bronze statue that fell from the sky into the corner of town
– Berg is the brother of a bodyguard from a certain castle; devoted in the growth and expansion of Cordan
– Mireille: young girl who lives in Cordan; Berg’s daughter and gets along with Anna
– Anna: young girl who lives in Cordan; seems to sense something from the rusty soldier’s statue in town
– Prince Pietro will get to interact with special girls by communicating with them and giving them gifts
– Once they become better friends, they’ll even help out with items that can help in the farm or the journey
– Lily: innocent girl who lives in Cordan; loves insects
– Iris: strong-willed girl; loves performing experiments and also loves cats

Combat details

– Ninja Theory was asked to help improve combat Disney Infinity
– The studio was working on lightsaber combat six months before Disney Infinity 2.0 was finished
– Ninja Theory “made sure the animations start immediately, so when you press a button there is already movement and gives you that feeling of responsiveness”
– Combat improvements apply to the game as a whole, not just Star Wars
– Characters like Mr. Incredible will play better than before
– Younger players can still button mash
– The team wants to reward those seeking depth
– Luke Skywalker can use a blaster and a lightsaber
– Pausing mid-combo and holding down buttons will branch your attack off in different combo directions

– You have full control over this attack and can release it early, even if it hasn’t reached its full potential

– The playset is authentic in the Star Wars canon and does properly slot in the timeline, but it still maintains Disney Infinity’s core conceit that these games star toy versions of notable characters in a toy playground

– Wherever mysteries are, so is Holmes, and so Ryuunosuke and the Great Detective meet for the first time
– New characters Nikomina Borschbich and Mitrofan Stroganov
– Nikomina Borschbich: fifteen-year-old ballet dancer Nikomina Borschbich
– Mitrofan Stroganov: sailor who was patrolling the area of the ship where the incident occurred
– Nikomina is running away from the Russian ballet corp she was once a part of to America
– Can examine an area, speak to people, move around, and present evidence
– Areas you’ve already looked at will have a check mark displayed by the cursor
– When choosing where to go, Susato will let you know if anything more needs investigating there

NintendoWorldReport has published a new preview for Splatoon, which contains a bunch of details about the game’s Hero Mode (single-player). You can find the information rounded up below.

– As previously mentioned, you’ll be battling against the evil forces of the Octarians
– Octarians have snatched all of the Zapfish they could find in the area
– Zapfish are needed for electricity
– First few levels are basic
– In these levels, you shoot ink in your humanoid form and then switch to your squid form to move quickly through the level
– The campaign differs in what you need to accomplish
– Outwit various octopi troops
– Levels are made up of small islands that you hop between using launch pads
– Each level has a unique setup that challenges your skills and introduces new elements
– Floating Sponge Garden: has platforming and enemies to fight, but you also shoot ink at sponges to let them grow to huge proportions
– This lets you traverse the stage in brand new ways
– Propeller: when ink is shot at it, the device moves in different directions
– You can raise the propeller far above your enemies and inflict an immediate attack from above if your timing is right
– Timing is another important part of single-player
– “Inkraill Skyscape”: hop on various rails in your squid form and perform timed jumps to land on higher platform
– “Inkvisible Avenues”: platforms are almost impossible to see without ink guiding the way
– Your Inkling can only withstand three splats before you get booted to the overworld
– Checkpoints are scattered throughout levels
– Some levels are apparently very difficult – notably bomb drop levels
– In these, an enemy from above will constantly drop ink tornados around you in an attempt to destroy you
– “Flooder Junkyard”: gigantic robots try to spray the field completely in their color
– When the robots spot you, they’ll come after you with a full assault
– Octostamp boss: gigantic cube that tries to squash you as soon as he sees you
– Climb the sides of his body to start an assault on the tentacle that pops out and free the Zapfish inside
– Octowhirl boss: will fly straight towards you; trap him in a huge pile of ink to nail him down and once again hit the octopus tentacle three times
– One level has you scaling skyscrapers while another is in a galaxy-like setting rife with moving platforms

Speedway

– Avalanche wanted to improve driving
– Speedway: racing-focused Toy Box game
– Like Mario Kart, but with Disney Infinity’s deep roster of characters, vehicles, and tracks
– Sumo Digital working on racing aspects
– Sumo Digital’s involvement began when Disney Interactive John Vignocchi ran into Sumo’s Sean Millard at GDC and professed his appreciation for Sonic & Sega All-Stars racing
– Sumo tweaked the driving controls to tighten them up and make them feel more consistent with a quality kart racer
– The team is “aiming for it be as much fun and as pick-up-and-play as Mario Kart”
– Tweaks/changes are implemented throughout Disney Infinity 3.0, not just Speedway
– Race in Frozen, Wreck-it Ralph, and a few Star Wars track
– One track is set inside of the Monsters, Inc. door factory
– Millard had to be convinced of its inclusion, as he wasn’t sure how well it could work
– The track has thousands of hanging doors from the original film framing the racing action and creating plenty of rails the cars can jump on and slide along
– Speedway Toy Box will be sold as a separate, stand-alone game on a disc sometime after the release of Disney Infinity 3.0

Toy Box Takeover

– Previously called Villain Takeover
– Takes inspiration from top-down dungeon crawlers like Diablo
– Trying to learn from the mistakes with Disney Infinity 2.0’s Escape from the Kyln Toy Box game
– Take on more enemies
– Battle continuously without interruption
– In Toy Box Takeover, The Incredibles’ Syndrome gets his hands on an Infinity Wand, the tool players use to create their own worlds
– Syndrome starts pulling together worlds and iconic villains that span Infinity’s myriad franchises, including Star Wars, Pixar, and modern and classic Disney
– New enemy variants specifically for Takeover
– Need to stay clear of The Void
– The Void: an unstoppable, slow-moving force that creeps up behind you, destroying everything in its path – including enemies
– Sidekicks can help you
– Sidekicks have been dramatically overhauled from the previous games
– They help you fight or act as support

– Levels in the game are designed to allow players to do whatever they want in the context of a Star Wars world
– There were initially plans to have Ninja Theory make the Playset based on the first three films, with Gobo set to work on the prequel trilogy
– After examining the content of each of the trilogies, and some shifting, it was decided since Ninja Theory specialized in combat, it should be working on the trilogy that featured Jedis fighting at their prime
– This led Gobo to handling the trilogy since the studio had a background in racing and vehicles
– Can take control of iconic vehicles like the X-Wing and the Millennium Falcon
– Star Fox was an inspiration
– Not all space battles are on rails
– The two Death Star battles will be on rails
– Non-rail battles and flying around open space are like the all-range-mode from Star Fox 64
– Dedicated inputs make you do loop de loops and 180 degree turns and the bumpers on the controller let you lean tightly into turns

? Battle System

Battles in PoPoLoCrois Farm Story are command-based. When your gauge accumulates, you’ll be able to take action, which can be performed within the range of squares indicated on the grid. You can attack monsters, heal allies, etc. Attacking monsters from behind will deal more damage. Additionally, you can switch between manual and automatic at any time during battle.

Special Skills

Each character has his or her own set of “Special Skills” that you can make use of during battle. Whether they’re to attack an enemy, heal an ally, or to provide assistance, you’ll learn new Special Skills as you level up.

? Quests

During your adventure, you’ll meet a number of people in need of assistance. By helping them out, you can gain a variety of items as a reward. Some of these quests will consist of monster battles. Let’s take a look.

Quest: Big Trent Outbreak

In response to the request of a girl from Rampling Village, players must defeat the lot of Trent that appeared in the forest.

Quest: Shells and I

In response to the request of an old man collecting shells in the forest, players must take down the Lizardman who stole all of his shells.

Quest: Oil Pot

The oil container-like Aburatsubo monsters are spilling oil in the Urban Mountains, and the mountain road has become dangerously slippery. Defeat the Aburatsubo and make the road safe again.

Disney Infinity 3.0 has finally been made official. The game has been officially announced in the latest issue of Game Informer, which is due out today digitally.

Here’s what we know about Disney Infinity 3.0 thus far:

– Avalanche heading up development again
– Other studios contributing as well
– Ninja Theory working on Twilight of the Republic pack-in playset
– This follows Anakin and Ahsoka as they fight to uncover who’s behind a freshly minted droid army
– Twilight of the Republic takes place after Star Wars: Episode II
– It features land and space battles
– Melee combat as well
– Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Darth Maul can enter the fray
– These characters will be separately-sold figures
– Studio Gobo’s (Disney Infinity’s Pirates of the Caribbean playset) Rise Against the Empire is a highlight reel of sorts that follows the events of the classic trilogy
– Luke and Leia tangle with Darth Vader and his forces through memorable sequences
– Battle of Yavin, Hoth, Tatooine featured in Rise Against the Empire
– Chewbacca, Han Solo, and Darth Vader figures will be available individually
– Star Wars characters can cross over between the Star Wars playsets
– Avalanche has reexamined fundamental parts of its core game and is working with best-in-class developers to ensure that Infinity is as good as it can be
– Ninja Theory has retuned melee combat
– Combat has been adjusted for timing and added depth for advanced players

More details about Fire Emblem If have been translated from 4Gamer’s new interview with the game’s developers. Some of this is a bit of rehash based on what we posted earlier today, but there are new tidbits sprinkled in as well.

Here’s the latest:

– Hoshido has a world map.
– Nohr has more complex maps. Besides the usual “defeat all of the enemies”/”defeat the general” maps, there will also be suppression, breakthroughs, defending bases, turn restrictions, amongst others.
– There are lots of map gimmicks.
– Both versions of the game contain the same characters. You’ll be shown different aspects of their personalities in accordance to the route you select.
– The downloadable version does not contain both sides. It does not lock the other route when you select one. You pay to receive everything up until chapter five, and once you make a decision, you will have to download everything from chapters six, onward, for the respectful route. The second download is free because you have already paid. If you want to try the alternative version, you have to buy DLC in the same way those with physical copies will.
– You can also save directly to your 3DS system (versus the cartridge).
– If you decide to buy the DLC, you can load your chapter 5 data and continue from that instead of starting from the beginning. Of course, you can restart if you’d like to.
– You’ll be able to experience an entire story by only playing one route. The other is a completely different story.
– The third path is in the middle of Hoshido and Nohr in terms of difficulty. People who began with Hoshido should still be able to complete the third path.
– You’ll be able to lower the difficulty in the middle of the game if you find Nohr too hard.
– You’ll still be able to connect with people who play the alternative version. (Probably means you can streetpass someone with Nohr despite playing Hoshido, and vice versa.)
– There will be various perks for connecting with other players.

Fire Emblem If launches in Japan on June 25 and in the west next year.
