Level-5

A trio of commercials have come in for Level-5 and Koei Tecmo’s collaboration title Yo-Kai Sangokushi. We’ve attached all three below.

As part of a new feature on Yo-kai Watch, MCV spoke with Nintendo UK product manager Remy van Leeuwen about the series.

First, van Leeuwen discussed Yo-kai Watch’s potential in the west. The Yo-kai themselves, their emotional abilities, and the comedy aspect could all help to connect with kids.

He said:

“It is difficult to say whether it will have the same impact in the West, but I definitely think that there is a lot of potential for it, especially working together with the likes of [toy company] Hasbro and [TV company] Turner. Everyone is going to back it to its fullest. Because of the nature of Yo-kai and their emotional abilities, it makes it quite easy for kids to relate to them. For instance, there is a Yo-kai called Cheeksqueek, which basically makes people fart. That’s been a hit with kids in our research.”

“One of the other key aspects that will definitely resonate with kids in the UK is the comedy aspect to it. The characters themselves are just funny, and they’re quite deep, too. We will be trying to bring that out in our campaign.”

Nintendo has put out another Yo-kai Watch commercial showing how the collectible medals can be used with the actual game. Check it out below.

A new tweet from Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino has fans speculating that a new Inazuma Eleven title is in the works. Hino mentioned on Twitter earlier today that work is being done on various new games and anime, and we’ll be hearing about quite a bit of these at Level-5 Vision 2016 – the company’s (mostly) annual event where new announcements are made. Hino said at the end of his tweet, “Of course there is also that certain new title. I… (it’s too soon to say it)”.

We know of one big Level-5 IP which starts with an “I”. Naturally, that would be Inazuma Eleven. Perhaps we’ll see a new Inazuma Eleven game at Level-5 Vision 2016?

Inazuma Eleven has seen large representation on Nintendo platforms. It doesn’t necessarily mean that a new game is confirmed for the Big N’s systems, but there would be a decent possibility of that happening.

Following today’s release date announced, Nintendo has revealed the European Yo-kai Watch boxart. We’ve posted it above.

Nintendo has just announced that Yo-Kai Watch will be released in Europe on April 29th. With this, the game will finally be available in all regions.

If you’re in Europe and just can’t wait two more months, you can actually just import the game from Australia. Yo-Kai Watch was released there last year and Europe and Australia are part of the same region as far as games are concerned, so the 3DS’ region lock won’t affect it.

The Yo-kai Watch anime now has a final premiere date in the UK. Cartoon Network will begin airing episodes on April 22, the series’ Twitter account confirms.
