Tokyo (Present/Year UE77 – United Era):

– 80 years after the arrival of the Shinryu Dragon in the year 2020 and 2021
– The Japanese Government had virtually lost all of its power
– International self-defense force called ISDF is managing the peace and order
– The people are doing their best to revive the country that was in ruins after the fight with the dragon, but it hasn’t been enough
– They’re still doing their best to go back to the way things were before the invasion

Atlantis (Past):

– Takes place about 12,000 years prior
– In a world that exists in a different timeline
– An underwater kingdom was established using a special ore called “Star Crystal” that’s found under the Atlantic Ocean
– The people living there are from a special race called the Rushe
– They established what was considered a high plane of civilization at the time

Eden (Future):

– Takes place in a different timeline that takes place 5,000 years in the future
– Shows a different kind of progress had science, technology, and lifestyles took a different twist
– This is also where the first 7th Dragon game takes place
– 80% of the world is ruled by dragons.

SEGA Games CEO on the positive feedback from recent Famitsu interview

Haruki Satomi, CEO of SEGA Games, conducted an interview with Famitsu earlier this month. He talked about wanting to make quality games, and learn from its subsidiary Atlus.

Most fans reacted positively to what Satomi shared with Famitsu. He has since commented on the reaction, in which he told Siliconera:

“Seeing our fans across the world respond to our recent interview with Famitsu, lets us know we’ve made the right first step in acknowledging who we are and where we want to be. Sega is dedicated to bringing you quality gaming experiences and becoming a brand you love and trust again.”

SEGA: no current plans for more 3D Classics, watching the market, New 3DS interest

3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 marks the end of SEGA’s second wave of 3D Classics. Could we eventually see additional games be given the same treatment though?

For now, SEGA is saying that there are “no plans for additional SEGA 3D Classics”. But producer Producer Yosuke Okunari did tell Nintendo World Report that the company is monitoring the sales performance of the other games. He also expressed interest in working with the New 3DS.

Below are Okunari’s full comments:

If the uptake for New 3DS is very strong, I would really like to give it a shot, yes. We currently have no plans for additional SEGA 3D Classics, though. But we are keeping a close eye on how they are doing in the marketplace.

Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games will come to Japanese arcades

Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games is being released next year on Wii U and 3DS. In Japan, however, the game will also be available on arcade machines. Similar to what happened with Pokken Tournament, this game will be made available to the public for the first time in location tests, taking place from July 17th to July 20th at Club SEGA Akihabara and SEGA World Kasai.

A full release date has not yet been announced.

3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has a new “Ring Keep” mode

3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is heading to the Japanese 3DS eShop on July 22. We already heard that the game supports local co-op, and now some information has surfaced about a new mode.

SEGA and M2 have added the “Ring Keep” mode to 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2. This has players starting a stage with 10 rings, though that amount is halved each time you take damage. It’s a small but nice addition for those looking for an extra challenge!
