SaGa Frontier Remastered

SaGa Frontier Remastered is heading to Switch in April, but it’s more than just a simple re-release. The team has implemented improved graphics, additional features, and a new main character.

Fuse is the new character in question. Once players have fulfilled certain conditions, he can be unlocked. Fuse comes with his own scenario and even has new tracks from Kenji Ito.

To celebrate the upcoming release of SaGa Frontier Remastered, various members of the development team have shared a few messages. We have them in full below.

We’re not quite sure how much of the show will be Switch-related, but we do at least know that Balan Wonderworld will be featured. You can watch the live event below, and we’ll be sure to report back on any notable news.

Balan Wonderworld

Balan Wonderworld received a demo at the end of January, but the reception was unfortunately mixed. As a bit of good news, it sounds like the feedback reached the development team.

Producer Noriyoshi Fujimoto announced today that Balan Wonderworld will be receiving a day one patch. The update will adjust movement controls and camera movement while also rebalancing the difficulty.

Fujimoto said:

SaGa Frontier Remastered

Square Enix is bringing SaGa Frontier Remastered to Switch next month. The revitalized RPG is looking like a digital-only release in the west, but physical collectors will be happy to hear about the latest bit of news.

Over in Asia, SaGa Frontier Remastered is getting a boxed version at retail. Better yet, English is supported. That means fans can import a copy, play through it entirely, and add it to their collection.

SaGa Frontier Remastered is due out for Switch on April 15. Play-Asia has pre-orders for the physical version here.

[Review] Bravely Default II

System: Switch
Release date: February 26, 2021
Developer: Square Enix / Claytechworks
Publisher: Nintendo

It’s hard for me to reflect on the 3DS without thinking about the fond memories I’ve had playing Bravely Default, spending over 150 hours to fully complete everything the game had to offer – from getting all jobs and characters to max levels, to seeing credits roll, completing all dungeons and sidequests, and just about everything until my cartridge became no more than a paperweight by the end of it all. It was a part of the genre I had so deeply missed, and while I love the innovation and how far role-playing games have comes since the days of Final Fantasy Adventures and Chrono Trigger, sometimes you can’t help but “go back to the basics” to a simpler time where you could strategize more, form a party of warriors and mages, and go on a fantastical adventure. Now with the power of Unreal Engine 4, Bravely Default II looks as beautiful as ever, as your party of four shines in battle with a more 3D-esque approach compared to its predecessors, yet still retaining its artistic integrity and stunning environmental design. The series’ Switch debut is a massive leap forward for the series on both a mechanical and technical level, even if there are some tweaks made this time around that may or may not be questionable to those who have played the entries before it.

Square Enix is ringing in the spring season with a new sale on the eShops. Most of the discounts are for Switch, but a couple of 3DS titles are included as well.
