After it was teased yesterday, Nintendo has just published a brand new gameplay video for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Series producer Eiji Aonuma presented the footage.

Much has been made about the lack of news surrounding Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Although the Switch exclusive is just a couple of months away, Nintendo hadn’t shown much of it. Also not helping matters is that fans have only been treated to small glimpses with short trailers since the initial announcement in 2019. Thankfully, we now have a more extensive look.

3DS Wii U eShops closed

That’s officially a wrap on the 3DS and Wii U eShops – both stores are now closed for business. The two shops have been updated so that purchasing content is no longer possible. Also, if you were hoping to download free content like demos, you’ll be out of luck as well.

When Nintendo announced the closure of the 3DS and Wii U eShops, the company merely stated: “This is part of the natural lifecycle for any product line as it becomes less used by consumers over time.” It did not provide any other explanations about the decision to end purchases and free downloads.

Nintendo will share ten minutes of gameplay from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on March 28, the company just announced. This will go live at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET / 3 PM in the UK / 4 PM in Europe.

Series producer Eiji Aonuma will be leading the “presentation”. Other than that, no further information has been provided.

Samba de Amigo Party Central Sonic the Hedgehog

SEGA shared more information about Samba de Amigo: Party Central today, and revealed that in-game content from the Sonic the Hedgehog series is coming to Switch exclusive.

Two energetic songs from the series will be included – specifically “Escape From the City” from Sonic Adventure 2 and “Fist Bump” from Sonic Forces. Additionally, a stage based on City Escape from Sonic Adventure 2, featuring the iconic Blue Blur himself shaking it alongside Amigo, will be available.

Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series Nintendo Direct

Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series launched on numerous platforms, but it turns out that development started out on Switch. That information comes from Ryo Ishida, the game’s producer in a recent issue of Lost In Cult.

Ishida also spoke about revealing Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series in a Nintendo Direct last year, stating that it’s “an excellent medium for spreading information and awareness among game fans” given the high level of anticipation for announcements. He said Bandai Namco was “very grateful for that opportunity.”

The big day of the 3DS and Wii U eShop closure is almost upon us, with Nintendo turning off purchases on March 27. Some owners of the two systems have been rushing to make some last-minute purchases. Many retailers are no longer carrying 3DS and Wii U games, and both platforms have their lineup of digital exclusives.

Have you been making any last-minute purchases on either system? Let us know in the comments below.

Atelier Ryza 3 interview

Nintendo Everything was recently given the opportunity to interview Junzo Hosoi, the head of Gust, about Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key. The RPG just launched on Switch this week, marking the end of Reisalin “Ryza” Stout’s story.

We discussed a variety of topics, including the conclusion of the trilogy, implementing open fields, the possibility of an English dub for the series, future of the franchise, and more. You can read our full discussion below.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land 3D Kirby

Kirby finally went 3D with Kirby and the Forgotten Land last year, and according to director Tatsuya Kamiyama, a big reason why it took so long to happen is due to the character’s pink sphere shape. Kamiyama explained why this was such a big obstacle during a session at GDC 2023 this week.

Kamiyama noted:

Project EGG Swich

Switch has been home to a ton of classic games, and that pattern is continuing with plans from D4 Enterprise and its retro games distribution service Project EGG.

D4 has previously brought back titles from platforms such as the MSX, PC-9801, and PC-8801 on Windows, PicoPico for smartphones, and Virtual Console for Wii U (MSX), Wii (MSX, NeoGeo, Arcade), and 3DS. Additionally, it is the sole authorized worldwide distributor of MSX Licensing Corporation, which holds the rights to MSX.
