This month’s issue of CoroCoro is teasing a new Switch game from an unspecified publisher and developer. The project, which launches later this year in Japan, is said to be “a new action game epic to follow Splatoon and Fortnite”.

CoroCoro further says that the title takes place in “a new world that utilizes Switch’s performance to its very limit,” where “battles break out between skyscrapers in the middle of a peaceful city.” No further information was shared, though it’s confirmed that a manga adaptation is already in the works.

CoroCoro did publish a special piece of art showing a boy and a mysterious monster in a New York-like city. If it happens to leak online, we’ll share it on the site.

Langrisser has always been a name familiar with the cultured strategy RPG player, but not one that may be globally known despite what it did for the genre way back in the 90s. When Langrisser debuted in 1991 as ‘Warsong’, it quickly became a juggernaut that gave the likes of Tactics Ogre and Fire Emblem serious competition, but with a lack of official localizations, it became an afterthought to those that didn’t seek out the series further. After the franchise was dormant for nearly two decades – and having not received a release outside of Japan longer than that – Langrisser I & II sees the series officially make its return after the ill-received Re:Incarnation -TENSEI- in 2015. The complete package of Langrisser I & II is an absolute treat with a fresh makeover that both honors and respects the game’s origins and tactile gameplay, providing fans and newcomers alike a reason to get familiar with Langrisser and why it should be on everyone’s radar.

Update: Added brief comment from Reggie below.

Original: GameStop announced today that former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has been appointed as one of three new independent members to its Board of Directors. His role will go into effect on April 20. William “Bill” Simon and James “J.K.” Symancyk have also joined on.

GameStop noted in the press release that the appointments of these three members “are the result of a comprehensive search process led by the Board of Directors and involving shareholder input.” Dan DeMatteo, Gerald Szczepanski, Larry Zilavy, Steve Koonin, Jerome Davis, and Tom Kelly are retiring from the board.

George Sherman, GameStop’s CEO, said of today’s news:

The upcoming re-release of Doom 64 appears to be more than just a simple port. As one of the big highlights, a new chapter will be included.
