3DS and Wii U online play ends on April 8

January 23: Nintendo has provided an official shutdown date for 3DS and Wii U online play. This will go into effect on April 8, 2024 at 4 PM PT / 7 PM ET. Users are warned “that if an event occurs that would make it difficult to continue online services for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U software, Nintendo may have to discontinue services earlier than planned.”
This news doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Nintendo already gave fans a heads up back in October that it would be pulling the plug on 3DS / Wii U online support. April was already confirmed – we just didn’t have a specific date.

How to play Clam Blitz in Splatoon 3
Posted on 7 months ago by Ethan in Guides, Switch | 0 comments
Of all the ranked modes in Splatoon 3, Clam Blitz is perhaps the most hit-or-miss. Not because there’s anything wrong with the mode, but because it’s somewhat poorly explained for players who haven’t played it before. Some even consider Clam Blitz the toughest ranked mode, so we’ve written up a guide on how to play it. There’s a lot to like about this mode once you get the hang of it.

8 of the most useless amiibo figures ever released
Posted on 7 months ago by Ethan in Features, General Nintendo | 0 comments
Ever since their original release, amiibo figures have been more popular as fancy little shelfwarmers than in-game content bonuses. Nintendo certainly acknowledges this, too – whereas characters like Mario work across multiple games, other, more specific characters only serve a single purpose. Today, we’re looking at the most useless amiibo ever released and what they do in their corresponding game. Do note, there are several Super Smash Bros. series amiibo whose only purpose is amiibo training. This compatibility is actually too useful for our purposes, so we’ll only be talking about useless amiibo that do even less than that.

Xenoblade 3 director acknowledges fans want to see beyond the ending, talks lore

The Xenoblade Chronicles 3 art book came out this week in Japan, and it contains a pretty big interview with various members of the staff, including executive director / writer Tetsuya Takahashi.
At one point, Takahashi addressed a player survey with a specific topic about the administrator of Origin. This led him to mention that while fans may have some questions and may want to see certain things such as what happens after the end of the game, he’s asking them to wait for now and answers could follow in the future through additional titles.
10 of our favorite 3DS and Wii U online games
Posted on 7 months ago by Ethan in 3DS, Features, Wii U | 0 comments
The 3DS and (to a smaller extent) the Wii U are some of Nintendo’s most beloved systems of all time. Both got off to something of a slow start, but the 3DS eventually steered itself back on-track and became a success. The same can’t be said for the Wii U, but both consoles are home to top-quality games. With online services shutting down for these platforms, we figured now would be a good time to list ten of our favorite games with online functionality in no particular order.
7 Star Meganium guide for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

The 7 Star Meganium Tera Raid Battle event for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is live now. It’s a little bit easier than some of the raid events we’ve seen recently, but it still poses a decent challenge on its own. The event runs until April 7, and then comes back from April 12 to April 14. If you don’t have any Pokemon ready for the first wave, you’ve got a few days to train up a counter. We’ve put together a couple of good suggestions for the event below.
