Mario Rabbids Sparks of Hope accessibility

Ubisoft has shared new details as to what players can expect from accessibility features in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope.

The team has gone all out in this department, as there are various options for controls, graphics, motion, audio, and gameplay. Senior UX designer Andrea Scambia said Ubisoft was thinking about accessibility from the very start with this title, meaning it was built into the designs from the beginning.

Here’s the full rundown on accessibility features and options in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope:

Rabbids speak

The Rabbids speak in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, but they didn’t in the previous title – Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. As it turns out, the team was explicitly told by Ubisoft that the Rabbids don’t talk. To get around that a bit, the Phantom was included in Kingdom Battle with a music number.

Mario + Rabbids creative director Davide Soliani told IGN:

Correggi touched on combat changes that have been made compared to Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, the work and detail being put into the animation, his excitement for bringing back Rayman, and more.

You can read our full discussion with Correggi. We also have a video version at the end of this post.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope multiplayer

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope won’t feature any sort of multiplayer modes. That’s according to Quentin Correggi, the associate producer on the game.

We recently had the opportunity to speak with Correggi, and one of the topics we discussed is whether the game will feature PvP like the original title. That led to the confirmation that Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is scrapping multiplayer entirely, with the game planned “exclusively a solo experience.”
