Not all amiibo are created equally! Take this Samus figure for instance, which is actually defective. Two arm cannons are included on the figure for some strange reason.

If you haven’t checked out “Honest Game Trailers” before, now’s your chance! Here’s one dedicated to Super Smash Bros.:

Interestingly enough, Nintendo did not truly settle on a specific gender for its Toad characters from the Mario universe. That’s despite the fact that Toad takes on the appearance of a male and Toadette has female characteristics.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker producer Koichi Hayashida told GameSpot in a recent interview:

“This is maybe a little bit of a strange story, but we never really went out of our way to decide on the sex of these characters, even though they have somewhat gendered appearances. But I think what I can say is that Toadette and Toad are not siblings — perhaps it would be more accurate to say they are adventure pals. And that’s certainly true here [in Captain Toad].”

Hayashida also went on to clarify that Toads are not mushrooms. When GameSpot brought up the resemblance and nomenclature, Hayashida noted:

“This particular riddle might stay unsolved. That’s one of the great mysteries of the Mario universe.”

Let’s take a trip down memory lane… back when Nintendo was about to release Super Mario Strikers. Print magazines were still going strong, and there needed to be ads to promote the GameCube title.

The image above is one such ad that Nintendo was apparently considering. I hope I don’t have to spell out why it was rejected!

Update: Bumped to the top. This is an interesting twist! Was the whole stunt staged? New findings certainly point in that direction!

Karissa’s full name also seems to be “Karissa Bannister”. She’s an actress who appeared in a Ford commercial.

One GameStop outlet held an event for Smash Bros. Wii U yesterday. That wouldn’t be news under most circumstances… if not for “Karissa”!

“Karissa”, a 10-year-old girl, managed to beat several top West Coast Smash players at GameStop’s event. You can get a look at Karissa dominating the competition in the videos below.

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has had plenty of memorable moments over the past decade. There is, of course, his grand debut at E3 2004. Reggie will also always be remembered for his now-famous line from a Wii Fit presentation at E3 2007: “My body is ready”.

This is something Nintendo has decided to recognize in the latest Smash Bros. game on 3DS. After collecting the different custom outfits in the game, you’ll be presented with the image above. Random no doubt, but it’s a pretty great inclusion on Nintendo’s part!

Fatal Frame: The Black Haired Shrine Maiden has some unlockable outfits. And they’re quite risque, to say the least.

Head past the break for screenshots. You’ve been warned!

A new glitch has been discovered in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS that results in the creation of huge characters. By playing as Yoshi in Multi-Man smash and continuously laying eggs, enemies will become bigger and bigger.

The glitch does not work in any other mode. Also, your opponent can be a character other than Yoshi.

There are a few differences in the Wii U version of Bayonetta 1 compared to the original PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 games. There’s off-TV play and touchscreen support on the GamePad. A few Nintendo costumes are also included. As it turns out, PlatinumGames also made a change to Jeanne’s model.

As explained by the studio’s JP Kellams:
