Do you remember the “Nindies” term that Nintendo used to bring up on a regular basis? It was very prominent in the Wii U / 3DS era, and even the very early Nintendo Switch days. You probably don’t need us to tell you what it was for, but essentially it was an easy way to label indie games on Nintendo platforms.
These days, “Nindies” is all but forgotten. So what happened to the name? During a recent podcast episode, former Nintendo of America employees Kit Ellis and Krysta Yang spoke about the situation.
All things considered, Nintendo Switch 2 has had a fairly strong start for its first six months on the market. While we’re still missing heavy hitters like new entries in the Animal Crossing and Super Smash Bros. franchises (and they could be years away), we’ve received several high-profile exclusives over the course of the past few months. Now that Kirby Air Riders has been out for a while, we can finally rank them all based on quality. That being said, just about all of Nintendo’s Switch 2 exclusives this year are hits, with only a few small exceptions.
As a heads-up, we’re only including fully exclusive games here, which means you won’t see Metroid Prime 4: Beyond or Pokemon Legends: Z-A (since they were developed for the original Nintendo Switch). They’re both great too, though!
This was a pretty huge week in the Nintendo world as Metroid Prime 4: Beyond finally released following years of anticipation. Now that the game has finally arrived, we want to know how you’re feeling about the game if you’ve started it up.
Many of you likely know about the Metroid Prime 4: Beyond journey. After it was announced in 2017 with a different studio in charge, Nintendo scrapped the entire project and rebooted the game with Retro Studios – the series’ original developer – taking over. That announcement took place at the start of 2019. Years went by, but now fans can finally see how the final product turned out.
So if you’re playing Metroid Prime 4, what are your thoughts so far? Let us know in the comments below.

A new comparison video has come in showing off changes made to all courses in Mario Kart World following the game’s latest patch.
Version 1.4.0 dropped this week, and it was a huge update. There were some new features in there, but one of the more interesting parts involved changes for course layout in intermissions. Nintendo specifically updated “Koopa Troopa Beach” to “DK Spaceport”, “Koopa Troopa Beach” to “Crown City”, “Koopa Troopa Beach” to “Peach Stadium”, “Whistlestop Summit” to “Koopa Troopa Beach”, “Desert Hills” to “Koopa Troopa Beach”, “DK Spaceport” to “Koopa Troopa Beach”, “Crown City” to “Koopa Troopa Beach”, and “Koopa Troopa Beach”.
Thousands of games are currently available on Switch, and there are a ton of demos out there for many of them. Not just Nintendo, but also third-parties are offering demos. We’ve now put together a comprehensive list of what’s out there.
Since our reader base is English-speaking, that’s what we’re focusing on here. In other words, we’re highlighting Switch demos that you can find in North America and Europe. Japan has a few extra demos on its end, but a majority of them are for titles that are not currently being sold in the west and are only playable in Japanese.
