The nominees were announced today for the 2021 British Academy Games Awards. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a game to watch out for on the Nintendo-side of things, though other titles like Doom Eternal and Hades are also included.

Bonuses are now available in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield following the Max Raid Battle event tying in with Pokemon Day. As players collectively defeated Pikachu 874,808 times, items are up for grabs. Players can receive 87 Armorite Ore and 87 Dynite Ore.

Wales Interactive and Ghost Dog Films have set a release date for I Saw Black Clouds, the interactive psychological thriller with supernatural elements and branching storylines. The title is slated for March 30 on Switch.

Laid-Back Camp -Virtual- Lake Motosu was previously given a March release window on Switch. It turns out the game – which supports the Nintendo Labo VR Kit goggles – is just a few days away, with Gemdrops and Clouded Leopold Entertainment now announcing a final date of March 4.

Tetris 99 – 20th Maximus Cup announced, features Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury theme

Nintendo has announced the 20th Maximus Cup for Tetris 99. A new theme is being added to the lineup, which is based on Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury.
Players can unlock it by accumulating at least 100 event points. Once that mark is reached, you’ll get the theme featuring art, music and Tetrimino designs inspired by Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury.

Wii U update out now (version 5.5.5)

Wii U isn’t receiving much attention these days given that it’s Nintendo’s last-gen console, but the system just received another system update. That’s right – there’s a new firmware upgrade for the system in all regions. The console is now at version 5.5.5.
According to Nintendo, today’s update is all about system stability and usability – similar to many of the Wii U’s other firmware updates in recent years. The official note states: “Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.”
