Nintendo Switch

Nintendo has updated its maintenance schedule for the week, and Switch will be impacted tonight. The system’s online services will be affected for about an hour.

Here’s the full schedule:

– 6 PM PT (February 14) – 7 PM PT (February 14)
– 9 PM ET (February 14) – 10 PM ET (February 14)
– 2 AM in the UK (February 15) – 3 AM in the UK (February 15)
– 3 AM in Europe (February 15) – 4 AM in Europe (February 15)

As mentioned earlier today, the Japanese Kirby Star Allies website is now open for business. The site provides new details, including information about the story, mini-games, and amiibo support.

Kirby Star Allies begins as Planet Pop Star erupts into turmoil due to a dark power located far away in the galaxy. A
ritual ensues, and mysterious lights scatter, with the one known as the “Demon Heart” showing up in Dream Land.

Digital Foundry recently shared a technical analysis for Bayonetta 2 on Switch. They’re back once again, now with a look at the first game.

Bayonetta runs at 720p on Switch when docked similar to the sequel. Compared to Wii U, the game on Switch has a bit of improved texture filtering. There are other very subtle changes as well, such as the approach to bloom lighting.

Slayaway Camp: Butcher's Cut

Slayaway Camp: Butcher’s Cut is heading to Switch next month, Digerati and Blue Wizard Digital have announced. A specific date in March has yet to be determined.

Slayaway Camp: Butcher’s Cut is a puzzle game in which you play as Skullface, “a psychotic slasher hell-bent on revenge.” Slayaway Camp is violent, but a PG Mode is included that ditches the blood and gore. The game features the voice-over talents of Mark Meer (Mass Effect’s Commander Shepard) and Derek Mears (Jason Voorhees in the 2009 reboot of Friday the 13th). Also, touchscreen controls will be supported on Switch during handheld play.

SteamWorld Dig 2

SteamWorld Dig 2 originally made it to Switch a few months ago, but now Image & Form is bringing it to 3DS next week. Get a look at the game running on Nintendo’s dedicated handheld below.

Ace of Seafood will soon be appearing on Switch. According to a listing on the Australian eShop, the game is set for February 22. Switch owners can begin pre-loading the game now.

In Ace of Seafood, you’ll form a party of up to six fish and explore the ocean while battling other life forms. It’s an action game in which more powerful creatures will become available as you win battles.

Yesterday, THQ Nordic confirmed rumors of de Blob for Switch. The game, originally released for Wii, will be appearing on Nintendo’s latest console sometime this year.

THQ Nordic appears to be readying two more games for Switch as well. The company’s upcoming releases page indicates that de Blob 2 as well as The Raven Remastered are coming to the console.
