Splatoon 2 sold through 65% of its initial shipment in Japan

Splatoon 2’s release helped boost overall software sales in Japan last week. Between July 17 and July 23, there was a 251.55 percent increase at a total of 987,000 copies sold on the whole.
Switch also sold about 100,000 units. It was the second best week for the system – only behind the initial launch – and also raised overall Japanese hardware sales to 169,000 units. Sales were up 128.18 percent from last week.

Amazon Treasure Truck in select cities selling the Nintendo NES Classic Edition today

The NES Classic Edition is back at Amazon – sort of. For those in select cities, the retailer is selling the system for the original $60 price point at its Treasure Truck daily-deals program.
Treasure Trucks can be found in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, and Seattle. Customers can place orders for the NES Classic Edition through the Amazon app and schedule a pick up time at a Treasure Truck. If you happen to be located in one of these cities, you can take advantage between 11 AM and 5 PM local time, or until product sells out.

3Souls dev outlines changes and new features for the Vault

Red Column reconfirmed its commitment to free updates for its Wii U eShop game 3Souls earlier this week. The studio also outlined changes that are in the pipeline.
In another new blog post, Red Column talks about what else is planned, primarily for the Vault. The team is adding in a completion percentage, ML-Rules, hidden memories, new content for the Nindies mini-game, and a gallery feature. Everything is covered in detail on the official website here.

The launch of Dragon Quest games is always a big deal in Japan. It’s an extremely popular series, and each new entry is treated as a huge event.
It’s been a five year wait for the next Dragon Quest title. The wait has been even longer for a new single-player focused game. And so Japan no doubt treated the release of Dragon Quest XI as an important event. You can see a few photos from the launch below.

Nintendo officially confirms that Metroid: Samus Returns’ Fusion mode can only be unlocked with amiibo

Nintendo unveiled the amiibo functionality for Metroid: Samus Returns this week. All four figures will work with the game – the original Smash Bros. amiibo and the new ones specifically made for this title.
Some of the functionality isn’t that big of a deal. On the other hand, some of it is. One of the big features being scrutinized is the Fusion mode. By scanning the new, squishy Metroid amiibo, you’ll receive access to the mode that provides a new level of difficulty and Samus’ Fusion Suit from Metroid Fusion.

Some Pokemon GO Safari Zone events delayed in Europe

In a new post added to the Pokemon GO website, Niantic confirms that some Pokemon GO Safari Zone events have been delayed in Europe. Two days in particular are affected: August 5 and August 12. The news impacts Copenhagen and Prague as well as Stockholm and Amsterdam.
These events will now be taking place sometime in the fall. Specific dates will be announced in the future. Other events remains on track.
