After several pieces of concept art shared throughout the week, the latest Zelda: Twilight Princess HD message added to the series’ Twitter account is a bit random. But hey, it does come with a neat GIF!

Here’s the full translation:

“…It’s Malo. Today a so-called designer comes to the village to hold a special lecture… I see, he’s a dextrous guy… If I feel like it, I’ll ask him to renew the signboard for my shop.”

For those that are confused, this seems to be more like a demonstration as to how the designer drew the illustration, as shown in the tweet’s GIF.

Midnight Status is in the process of wrapping up Swap Fire, the indie’s debut project. This is a new first-person shooter slated for the Wii U eShop.

Here’s a brief overview:

“Shooting your opponent opens up a wormhole which swaps your positions. Oust him off the edge in Drop Zone or dominate the map in Control Point. Sharpen your skills in Story Mode or go for gold in Soccer. Whatever your goal, be ever mindful of your spacetime…”

Swap Fire’s controls are certainly unique. The game only uses the Wii Remote, with players holding it horizontally.

Regarding the controls, Midnight Status has this to say:

“Wait a second. An FPS with just a Wii remote? That’s CRAZY.

Here’s the thing: our main goal is to create an awesome/fun couch multiplayer. By now, the Wii U has about a thousand different types of controllers.

We wanted to keep it simple and FAIR with the one type of controller that everybody has, the Wii remote.

While we understand that these controls seem crazy for an FPS, we are confident that they’re fun and easy to use after just a minute of playing.”

Swap Fire is heading towards the end of development. Currently, the team hopes to have it ready sometime by summer.

Rare has a new behind-the-scenes video up that focuses on the music of Battletoads. Take a look at the video for commentary from composer David Wise, who shares some insight and even has a bit of a musical performance.

Super Mario Maker’s online functions were taken down for “emergency maintenance” earlier this week. Nintendo didn’t say what was happening, aside from how they would be addressing a bug that occurs in “Create” mode. So what exactly was this all about?

Kotaku has a more in-depth explanation, but below are some excerpts from the site’s report:

“Joseph discovered a video where another player claimed their level had been hacked, as someone else had managed to achieve a world record on a puzzle level in less than three seconds.

Joseph realized the “hacker” had access to items that weren’t in the original level. In Mario Maker, it’s possible to download other people’s levels and edit them, but that’s not what was happening here. The “hacker” was playing the level on the server, which is why their world record times were being recorded.
