Developer Roystan Ross has been tinkering away on a Unity-based remake of Super Mario 64. Earlier this month, Ross posted his efforts up to this point over on his blog.

You can download the Super Mario 64 demo here. Keep in mind that it’s a demonstration, meaning Bob-omb Battlefield is the only playable level currently. Also note that download links on the site may be down due to heavy traffic.

Splatoon guide on the way

Prima is working on a guide for Splatoon, according to a listing on Amazon. There is no collector’s edition version planned – just a standard release. That being said, there’s plenty of information packed inside Splatoon’s 240-page guide.

Denpa Ningen no RPG Free has managed to reach another milestone in Japan, with Genius Sonority announced that its game has surpassed 2 million downloads. It launched back in July 2014, so the feat was accomplished in a little over half a year. A special commemorative event will be held on April 4.

A new Iwata Asks has gone live. This time around, we get to read up on a discussion about Xenoblade Chronicles 3D between Nintendo president Satoru Iwata and Monolith Soft’s Tetsuya Takahashi. Access it here.

Rumor has it that Grand Theft Auto V was once prototyped for Wii U. That comes from Unseen64’s Liam Robertson, who tends to be in the know when it comes to cancelled projects and development secrets.

Robertson was in touch with “a reliable source”, who claims that the prototype “was an earlier version of GTA V.” It was apparently a brief period when this took place. Sadly, further details are unknown.

Rockstar indicated back in November 2012 that the company was open to bringing Grand Theft Auto V to various platforms such as Wii U. Nothing came from that, however.
