Dragon Quest VIII pre-load live on the North American 3DS eShop

Dragon Quest VIII can now be pre-loaded from the North American 3DS eShop. It’s a meaty game, requiring 24,413 blocks. This amounts to 3051.625 MB (about 3 GB).
Dragon Quest VIII launches on January 20. If you pre-load, you can download most of the data ahead of time. Then when it officially releases on the eShop, you’ll only need a small update to begin playing.

Monster Hunter Generations wraps up free DLC with January challenges

Capcom has released the final round of free DLC for Monster Hunter Generations. This pack doesn’t feature any new costumes, but it does bring a host of challenges for expert players to tackle. Read the full list of DLC after the break:

Second round of 3DS maintenance scheduled for next week

Nintendo already scheduled two hours of 3DS maintenance for next Monday (Tuesday in Europe). If that wasn’t enough, even more maintenance is planned the following day.
The rundown of times is as follows:
– 4:50 PM PT (January 10) – 7:30 PM PT (January 10)
– 7:50 PM ET (January 10) – 10:30 PM ET (January 10)
– 12:50 AM in the UK (January 11) – 3:30 AM in the UK (January 11)
– 1:50 AM in Europe (January 11) – 4:30 AM in Europe (January 11)
Just like with the other maintenance period, certain network services such as online play, rankings, etc. may be impacted.

Pokemon Sun/Moon, Yo-kai Watch among Spain’s best-sellers in 2016

In the latest issue of Hobby Consolas, the magazine reveals Spain’s best-selling games of 2016 through December 10. Pokemon Sun/Moon came in second, while Yo-kai Watch also made the list at the eight position.
The full results are as follows:
01. FIFA 17 (ELECTRONIC ARTS) – 425,000
02. POKEMON SUN AND MOON (NINTENDO) – 215,000
03. UNCHARTED 4: A THIEF’S END (SONY COMPUTER ENT.) – 200,000
04. FIFA 16 (ELECTRONIC ARTS) – 195,000
05. CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS III (ACTIVISION BLIZZARD) – 175,000
06. GRAND THEFT AUTO V (TAKE 2) – 160,000
07. CALL OF DUTY: INFINITE WARFARE (ACTIVISION BLIZZARD) – 150,000
08. YO-KAI WATCH (NINTENDO) – 95,000
09. BATTLEFIELD 1 (ELECTRONIC ARTS) – 85,000
10. FINAL FANTASY XV (SQUARE ENIX EUROPE) – 45,000
Hobby Consolas also labels Skylanders Imaginators as a “flop”. The game sold 10,000 copies across all platforms.

River City: Tokyo Rumble: another Limited Edition Kunio Keychain restock will be happening soon at Amazon

Natsume is announcing a third restock of River City: Tokyo Rumble game + keychain bundle. They are currently being shipped to Amazon and will be sold as soon as the popular site stocks them. Of course, these copies will be limited again, so follow Natsume on Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr or Facebook to catch this bundle quickly while it’s still available, because they will announce it through social media.

2017 Game Developers Choice Awards nominees announced

The nominees are in for the 2017 Game Developers Choice Awards. Pokemon GO is the main highlight in terms of Nintendo-related titles, picking up a few nominations and honorable mentions in various categories. Super Mario Run and Pokemon Sun/Moon are also being considered as best mobile/handheld title.

The 2017 Game Developers Choice Awards will be held on March 1 at 6:30 PM PT (9:30 PM ET) at the San Francisco Moscone Center during the 2017 Game Developers Conference in conjunction with the Independent Games Festival Awards (IGF).
