Octoling amiibo launch on November 9 in Japan

Last month, Nintendo revealed three new amiibo from Splatoon 2 – the Octolings. Today, a concrete release date for them has been revealed for Japan: November 9. No Western release date yet, but amiibo usually launch on the same day worldwide, so you can likely expect them on store shelves around the world on that day.

Nintendo introduces a ton of travel merchandise in Japan

Starting today, Nintendo is making a whole bunch of travel merchandise available in Japan. The company has prepared Super Mario-themed pillows, slippers, bags, a suitcase, and more.

Team Sonic Racing getting prequel comic

Team Sonic Racing is due out on Switch this winter. Prior to that, the game will be receiving a single, special comic issue.
SEGA announced the news during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con today. IDW Publishing, who is handling the latest Sonic comics, is in charge of the special issue. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ writer Caleb Goellner is writing the story, while Sonic the Hedgehog comic veteran Adam Bryce Thomas is acting as illustrator.

Nintendo Power Podcast episode #7 now live

In the latest episode, host Chris Slate is joined by Doug Bowser, head of sales of marketing as well as Katie Casper from the publisher/developer relations group to discuss recent and upcoming games for Switch, plus the debut of Nintendo Power magazine 30 years ago. Phil Duncan and Olie De-Vine from Ghost Town Games also stop by to speak about the creation of Overcooked: Special Edition and Overcooked 2.

Mega Man: Fully Charged art shows off final Robot Master designs

Mega Man: Fully Charged is about to see a full blowout at San Diego Comic-Con. Ahead of what will be shown, artist Jose Emroca Flores has shared some art online. Above we a look at some prints that will be at the expo.
The art is noteworthy since it gives us a look at the final Robot Master designs. The show’s main antagonist, “Sergeant Night,” looks to be here as well.

My Nintendo adds a few Splatoon 2-related rewards in North America

Mario Kart Hot Wheels toys coming next year

Mattel has a new partnership in store with Nintendo, though we won’t see the results until next year.
Announced today, Mattel is releasing a Mario Kart-inspired line of Hot Wheels. Mario, Luigi, Peach, Wario, Rosalina, Toad, Bowser, and Yoshi are featured.
The Mario Kart Hot Wheels toys will be appearing at Comic-Con this week. Unfortunately, they won’t be ready until June 2019. They’ll be sold for $4.99 each.

Mega Man: Fully Charged will debut August 5 on Cartoon Network

Several years after it was announced, Mega Man: Fully Charged finally has a premiere date. The animated series will kick off August 5 on Cartoon Network.
If you’re at Comic-Con this week, you’ll be able to get a peek at the series with the first episode. Fans can stop by a special panel on July 20 at 6 PM to watch it live. Capcom’s Kazuhiro Tsuchiya, DHX Studios’ Logan McPherson, and Man of Action Entertainment’s Joe Casey and Steven T. Seagle will be on hand for the event.
There’s another Comic-Con opportunity for fans as well. On July 20, there will be artwork-signing with the creators and producers of the show as well as exclusive Mega Man artwork from Jose Emroca Flores and merchandise from Toynami. A life-sized Mega Man statue will be on hand for a photo opportunity as well.

Nintendo producer wants more people to play Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers, interest in making an RPG with Dillon

Did you know that Nintendo brought Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers to the 3DS in May? Perhaps not, as it definitely went under the radar. It was eShop-only in North America, and with Switch soaking up the limelight right now, the game’s producer believes that folks may not be aware that it was released.
In an interview with Kotaku, Nintendo producer Kensuke Tanabe spoke about wanting more people to play Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers. He also spoke about interest in creating another title with Dillon as an RPG.
