Nintendo was “kind of liberal” with the Super Mario cartoons, writer says

Mario had a series of different cartoons way back in the day. The Super Mario Bros. Super Show, The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3, and Super Mario World all ran on television in the late ’80s and early ’90s.
Phil Harnage was directly involved with the different cartoons. As a writer, he played a prominent role in determining how the different episodes would play out.

Capcom focusing on regular release of titles for major IP, also using dormant IP and remakes

Today, Capcom posted an overview of its strategies and plans for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2019. As part of that, the company provides insight into growth strategies, and its focus going forward.
Capcom first highlights that, with new titles, it will “regularly release titles for major IP while also utilizing dormant IP and remakes”. Also a part of the company’s plan is to “extend sales life of catalog titles” and “strengthen digital downloads for both new and past titles”.

First look at new Super Mario toys for McDonald’s in the UK

Earlier in the year, we heard that new Super Mario toys would be available this summer at McDonald’s in the UK. First images have now appeared online.
Toys will be included in Happy Meals through two different waves. The fun starts on June 6, lasting all the way through July 17. All toys will be offered during the final week.

Why Gunpei Yokoi left Nintendo

Gunpei Yokoi was involved with many projects at Nintendo on both the hardware and software front back in the day. But around the time that the unsuccessful Virtual Boy launched, Yokoi left the company. As it turns out though, that system’s failure wasn’t a direct cause of his departure.
Yokoi wrote about leaving Nintendo in the November 1996 issue of Japanese magazine Bungeishunju. Livedoor recently republished his piece, which gives us a chance to hear from him directly.

E3 2018 updated floor plans

A few months ago, preliminary floor plans for E3 2018 were posted online. With just a month to go until the big event, we now have updated versions.
It’s true that the plans haven’t seen a major overhaul, especially when it comes to Nintendo. However, it’s worth getting a look at where things stand at the moment.

SEGA CEO on turning around Sonic and focusing on quality, teaming up with Mario

CNBC recently caught up with Haruki Satomi, the president and CEO of SEGA. There was some interesting discussion between the two sides about trying to make a turnaround with Sonic the Hedgehog after disappointing fans in the past, and wanting to focus on quality. Satomi was also asked if he believes Sonic can beat Mario – which he thinks is possible – but also pointed out how they’ve teamed up in the past for the Olympics titles.

First 4 Figures gives first look at Zelda: Twilight Princess True Form Midna statue with new video teaser

First 4 Figures is creating a new statue for Midna’s true form in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Yesterday, the company offered a first glimpse with a new video.
