Could David Wise be working on something at Retro Studios? That’s the latest rumor going around.
Last February, EvB – otherwise known as EvilBoris, said that “Retro are definitely working on something Donkey Kong related.” He added that it could be awhile before we saw anything from that. When someone praised Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, he also responded with: “Funny you should say that”.

Filming is now underway for the Detective Pikachu movie, and it didn’t take long for someone to stumble upon what is apparently part of the film’s set and some props.
Twitter user HowardBud spotted part of the film’s set in central London. There’s a sign for the “Ryme City Police Department” (Ryme City being the place the Detective Pikachu game and apparently also the movie takes place in), a billboard with some recruitment and missing persons (and missing Pokemon) fliers, a sign for the Police Plaza and some covered up cars.

Piracy has unfortunately been a constant battle for Nintendo. Even during the Game Boy era, it an issue the company has continually dealt with.
Originally found by Gamegeschiedenis, classic photos show Nintendo literally taking the fight to piracy. The images, captured by various sources, show Nintendo using a roller in the Netherlands to destroy thousands of counterfeit games. Even Mario was present at the event.
The caption from one of the photos reads:
“Video game company Nintendo is using a roller to combat piracy. At Lelystad airport ten thousand counterfeit video games were crushed. The Japanese company has started a targeted and structured worldwide campaign to combat forgeries of their video games. The destroyed games came from Hong Kong and were confiscated from a Dutch importing company.”

What did Nintendo’s headquarters look like nearly 130 years ago? Now we have an answer to that. A newly discovered photo, attached above, shows the building – which was captured during Nintendo’s earliest days.
The photo was published online last month, and we are fortunate to have it from the Meiji150 project. This is a celebration of Kyoto’s history on the 150th anniversary of the Meiji era. Part of this delves into the founding of Nintendo by Fusajiro Yamauchi and the works of civil engineering that created the infrastructure for Big N’s first office.
