Update: Bumped to the top. Though the rumor itself still stands, a new Sonic karting game has been ruled out for now. Aaron Webber from SEGA’s social media and PR ruled that out on Twitter:

Original: Sumo Digital has worked on two Sonic kart racers for SEGA. Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing launched in 2010, followed by Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed a couple of years later. A third entry could now be a possibility.

Slides from a supposed Sumo presentation have apparently leaked online. One page covers project in development at the studio, including an unannounced karting game based on an “established global IP”.

GameStop once again has the Super NES Classic Edition in stock. If you’d like to place an order, you can do so here. The SNES Classic Edition has slowly started to become more widely available, so we’re hoping this will last for more than a few minutes.

Also, while we generally don’t post about these kinds of refurbished products, GameStop is selling refurbished NES Classic Edition units here. Just keep in mind they aren’t new – they’ve been cleaned up from those who owned them previously.

A few days ago, Valve News Network hosted a live stream with Grey Newell, the son of Valve boss Gabe Newell. Grey ended up sharing an interesting tidbit about Nintendo during the event.

Apparently, many years ago, Valve’s founder visited Japan and met with Nintendo about a joint venture “that ended up not happening.” Grey also said he played Super Mario Galaxy with Shigeru Miyamoto.

Nintendo teamed up with NVIDIA to bring GameCube and Wii titles to the NVIDIA Shield in China. Folks are now getting their hands on the device, and an interesting discovery appears to have been made.

Speedrunner Pheenoh is one such person with access to the new version of the NVIDIA Shield. He came across some changes after streaming Zelda: Twilight Princess for over eight hours, such as how Epona and Link cannot be renamed at the start of a new game. It also loads very fast – apparently even quicker than Twilight Princess HD on Wii U.

Nintendo has provided a new wave of photos showing the new Zelda: Breath of the Wild Link figure from Medicom. We’ve attached the images below.

This figure is fully posable and stands roughly 30 cm/12″ tall. It comes with Link’s sword, shield, bow, arrows, quiver, and other accessories.

Update (1/29): The proper Kirby Calender is now available on My Nintendo. You can order the replaced version here.

Original (1/27): Two more rewards have been added to Nintendo in North America. Both are Kirby-themed, and one has a pretty notable error.

First, a theme is up for grabs called “Kirby Battle Royale: May the Best Kirby Win!”. You can also order a February calendar for your PC, smartphone, and tablet. The two cost 100 and 50 Platinum Points respectively.

Could David Wise be working on something at Retro Studios? That’s the latest rumor going around.

Last February, EvB – otherwise known as EvilBoris, said that “Retro are definitely working on something Donkey Kong related.” He added that it could be awhile before we saw anything from that. When someone praised Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, he also responded with: “Funny you should say that”.

Filming is now underway for the Detective Pikachu movie, and it didn’t take long for someone to stumble upon what is apparently part of the film’s set and some props.

Twitter user HowardBud spotted part of the film’s set in central London. There’s a sign for the “Ryme City Police Department” (Ryme City being the place the Detective Pikachu game and apparently also the movie takes place in), a billboard with some recruitment and missing persons (and missing Pokemon) fliers, a sign for the Police Plaza and some covered up cars.

Square Enix has started doing more with the Mana series in recent years. This has been primarily through remakes, though it now looks like the company is setting its sights in an entirely new entry.

Masaru Oyamada, who is producing the new Secret of Mana remake, recently said that the goal has been to create a new title. Square Enix first wanted to started out with remakes “in order for people who have played the titles to get to know it once again as well as give players who are new to the series an opportunity to experience the game and get everyone up to speed.”
