Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Link figma

Anime Expo 2023 is taking place this weekend, and several new figures have been revealed – including a brand new one for Link based on his appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Link will have its own figma from Max Factory. Further details, including a release window, were not announced. We also thus far only have a look at the figma in prototype form as the production process is early on.

The Knight includes a clock, nail, attacking effect parts, Knightling, and other optional parts for different poses. Hornet features a clock, needle, attacking effect parts, Cogfly, and other optional parts for different poses. Both also come with a stand as the products do not stand on their own.

The Knight is measured at roughly 100mm. Hornet is slightly bigger at about 130mm.

Gulf War Game Boy Nintendo NY store retired

New reports have indicated that the well-known Gulf War Game Boy stationed at Nintendo NY has been retired.

If you’ve been to the store over the years, one of the first things you probably saw was the deteriorated handheld. Even though it was damaged in a bombing during the Gulf War, this particular Game Boy was still actually in working condition. However, it is no longer on display. Those hoping to check it out for themselves in person will no longer be able to do so.

Jakks Pacific Mario movie toys

Jakks Pacific has unveiled a new wave of toys based on The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The lineup includes a variety of figures plus a Bowser’s Island Castle playset, Donkey Kong Stadium playset, Inflatable Bowser’s Battle, and Mario Rumble R/C Kart Racer.

Here’s the full rundown:

Super Smash Bros. Mortal Kombat

Super Smash Bros. has brought in characters from all sorts of legendary franchises – including fighting games like Street Fighter, Tekken, and Fatal Fury  – but Mortal Kombat has been left out of the mix. However, that’s not due to a lack of interest from its developers.

Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon, speaking with Axios, recently mentioned that Nintendo hasn’t asked for a Mortal Kombat character to appear in Smash Bros. But if Boon had his way, Scorpion would be his top choice to join the roster. If Nintendo asked for two characters, Sub-Zero would be next. Boon said “it’s cool to see a spear pull somebody,” which is why he’d go with Scorpion above anyone else.

Among Us animated series

Among Us – which is currently available on Switch – has seen a great deal of popularity in the video game space over the past few years, and that’s now extending to another piece of entertainment with an animated series. Conversations are underway as to which network / streamer will be attached.

CBS Eye Animation Productions will be in charge of the show. Titmouse (“Big Mouth,” “Star Trek: Lower Decks”) will handle the animation.

Nintendo directors approval ratings 2023

A few days ago, Nintendo’s 83rd Annual General Meeting of Shareholders happened, and shareholders once again voted on the election of its directors once again. As you’d expect, president Shuntaro Furukawa was included here. Shigeru Miyamoto, Shinya Takahashi, Ko Shiota, Satoru Shibata, and Chris Melandri made up the rest of the lineup.

Here’s the full lineup of 2023 approval ratings from Nintendo’s 83rd Annual General Meeting of Shareholders:

Kudzu

Kudzu is coming to both Switch and Game Boy following a successful run on Kickstarter. Things just wrapped up a little while ago and over $45,000 was raised. The primary purpose of the campaign was to fund the Game Boy release, but after reaching a stretch goal, Switch is also now in the picture.

For those that haven’t heard of it previously, the game is a non-linear adventure experience that has players taking on the role of Max, the apprentice gardener, who goes on an adventure trek through fields, gardens, forests, villas, and mountains covered with Kudzu, a known globally invasive plant species.

Splatoon 3 rant Nintendo meeting

Some bizarre situations have occurred at Nintendo’s financial meetings in the past, but one of the strangest happenings took place earlier today.

The Big N held its annual shareholder meeting, and per usual, it included a Q&A session. Reports have surfaced that someone was ranting “loudly” about female characters’ perceived preferential treatment in Splatoon 3 regarding customization. This person felt there is a lack of options for male characters, including hairstyles and emotes, compared to those available to the female counterpart.

E3 2024 2025 cancelled

Original: Based on the results of a meeting from the Los Angeles City Tourism Board of Commissioners, E3 2024 and E3 2025 may both be cancelled.

The accompanying Regular Meeting Packet from June 16 includes a note stating the show has been scrapped over the next couple of years. Originally, E3 2024 and E3 2025 were planned for June 11 and June 3 in their respective years. The ESA hasn’t shared an official comment, but it would be bizarre to include this information if the expo was still on track.
