During a recent tournament, Juan “Hungrybox” Debiedma called Nintendo out with the following message:
“A certain company that acknowledges us but refuses to push us—I hope you’re listening right now, because I want you to hear this. I want you to hear the amount of people who support this league, the amount of people who want this to be a lifestyle for people. This is not just a video game. This is a lifestyle! All right?”
At E3, Kotaku showed Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime this speech. Here’s what he had to say in response:

There’s been some talk with Far Cry 5 that Ubisoft’s game is being political based on its setting. The National approached Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime about the situation, and his response was hardly surprising.
“Making political statements are for other people to do,” he said. “We want people to smile and have fun when they play our games.”

Rumor: Super Nintendo World details for Universal Studios in Orlando
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Rumors | 4 Comments
Much of the recent news surrounding Super Nintendo World has focused on the upcoming park in Tokyo. However, we do know that there are plans in the United States as well, and Channel 9 claims to have some details.
The Woody Woodpecker and Barney attractions are said to be closing down. A Mario Kart ride will be taking over the area, which will apparently be “a moving track ride where guests wear augmented reality glasses to feel like they’re moving through a video game.” Additionally, Channel 9 claims Super Nintendo World will feature “a Donkey Kong roller coaster, plus a number of interactive areas with plans for floating coins in mid-air that will spin on a kind of magnetic system.”
Rick Munarriz with The Motely Fool said the following about the Mario Kart ride:
“It will not be a basic car ride. Whether it’s augmented reality or some kind of scoring thing in the real world. There will be a score element, race element to it and that is what’s going to make the ride re-rideable.”

Doug Bowser: Nintendo “learned a lot” from the NES Classic, licensing, no focus on VR right now
Posted on 7 years ago by Matt(@OnePunchMaz) in General Nintendo, News | 8 Comments
Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing, gave TechCrunch an interview at E3. Below are a couple of his key statements:
On the NES Classic:
“We’ve learned a lot from the NES Classic. We’ve learned there’s a real passion for retro gaming. The NES Classic was originally intended to be a holiday item and obviously there was high demand. So we doubled down and continued to produce it as we went into the next quarter. But we decided we wanted to focus on other areas. So we’re not producing any more at this point. But we’ve learned a lot.”

Reggie: Metroid is important to Nintendo, why Samus Returns wasn’t in presentation and not on Switch
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, General Nintendo, News, Switch | 28 Comments
This information comes from Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime…
Reggie on Metroid: Samus Returns…
“We wanted to make it clear that Metroid is an important franchise for us. As we think about how to satisfy the needs to the Metroid fans, we needed to make sure they understood there was a great console experience coming, in addition to Metroid: Samus Returns coming on Nintendo 3DS. That’s what we wanted to make sure it was clear that it wasn’t one or the other, that we were going to support both of our platforms with a great new Metroid experience.”
– Metroid: Samus Returns wasn’t included in the pre-recorded presentation for two reasons
– One of those being the the company has learned people seem more interested in learning about Switch (and other console experiences) first, at least at E3
