Switch and NES Classic Edition included in Google’s most-searched consumer-electronics tech products of 2016

Two big Nintendo products made Google’s most-searched consumer-electronics tech products this year. Switch came in fifth, followed by NES Classic Edition at seventh.

Shin Megami Tensei, Dragon Quest XI, and other Japanese creators on 2017 expectations

With 2016 wrapping up, Famitsu caught up with a number of Japanese developers to to respond to certain expectations for the new year. In terms of what was Nintendo-related, we have some comments regarding Shin Megami Tensei, Dragon Quest XI, The Great Ace Attorney 2, and The Snack World.
Here’s the roundup, as translated by Gematsu:
Shin Megami Tensei 25th Anniversary
Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse Producer Kazuyuki Yamai: “Next year, we’ll celebrate a memorable checkpoint on the way to future development of the Megaten series. I hope to be able to share ‘something’ with everyone then.”
Dragon Quest XI
Expect more information at Jump Festa 2017 on December 17. In 2017, we’ll hear about party members, systems. etc.
The Great Ace Attorney 2
Development is progressing.

Select My Nintendo members being given the opportunity to try out Switch before launch

Nintendo has started to send out emails to select My Nintendo members in the United States about an opportunity to try out Switch prior to launch.
The message states that another email from Eventbrite will be coming soon, which will have “full details” about the event and opportunity to register. Tickets will be provided “on a first come, first served basis”.
It’s unclear what the criteria is to be sent an invitation. Your location likely plays a role, however.

Nintendo files Excite Truck trademark in the U.S.

Last Thursday, a trademark for Excite Truck was filed on the behalf of Nintendo of America. It then entered the Trademark Reporting and Monitoring System yesterday.
The filing will naturally set off speculation as to what Nintendo could be planning for Excite Truck – be it a re-release, a new game, or something else. On the other hand, the trademark could be for nothing at all. We unfortunately won’t have any way of knowing until something official pops up, if it ever does.

Butch Hartman, the creator of Fairly OddParents, has his own YouTube show in which he draws fan-requested characters in the cartoon show’s style. In his newest video, Nintendo is heavily featured. Hartman created his own takes on the Splatoon squid, Link, Pikachu, and Mario. Sonic was also thrown in since he’s often associated with Nintendo these days. We have the video below.
VIZ Media planning Zelda: Twilight Princess / Ocarina of Time special for Free Comic Book Day 2017

We have several months to go until Free Comic Book Day 2017, yet VIZ Media is already confirming its involvement. Moreover, the publisher is planning something special for Zelda fans.
VIZ Media will make a special book available containing excerpts from the manga adaptations of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It will span 32 pages.
Free Comic Book Day 2017 will take place on May 6, 2017. You’ll be able to pick up the Zelda special from participating comic book stores.

Skylanders Academy showrunner on giving Crash Bandicoot a voice in the show

Skylanders Academy premiered on Netflix back in October. After the show appeared, it came as somewhat as a surprise that Crash Bandicoot was in, and even had his own voice.
GameSpot caught up with Skylanders Academy showrunner Eric Rogers to talk about giving the character a voice. He also touched on the mixed reaction and why the news of Crash’s involvement wasn’t talked up beforehand.
