Youkai Watch anime confirmed for overseas territories, big new Level-5 franchise teased

The Youkai Watch anime is heading overseas, Level-5 president Akihiro Hino confirmed to Wedge Infinity. Some character names will be changed, but popular names like Whisper and Jibanyan will be kept in tact. The anime will air in the United States, Europe, and other regions.
Also while speaking with Wedge Infinity, Hino teased a new franchise coming next year that will be even bigger than Youkai Watch:
“It takes a lot of time to craft new installments of Yokai Watch, but on some weeks, we’re actually spending more time on our ‘new title.’ Around this time next year, I think we’ll have something out that’s different not just from Yokai Watch, but anything else we’ve ever done before. 2015 is going to be yet another big year of change for us. 2015 will be a year where we usher in a hit bigger than Yokai Watch.”
With Level-5’s unannounced franchise, Hino wants it to resemble the things he enjoyed as a kid, but more modernized. It will consist of games, anime, and manga.
Last but not least, Hino mentioned that Level-5 will not be moved to Tokyo since he wants to foster its current location of Fukuoka to be the ‘Hollywood’ of games.

Toys “R” Us says Lucario amiibo pre-orders aren’t being cancelled

Toys “R” Us cancelled a truckload of amiibo pre-orders earlier today. Chances are if you had a figure reserved there, you received an email notice today that your reservation had been canned.
It appears that – at least for the Lucario amiibo – cancelled orders came about due to a “technical issue”. Joystiq reports that pre-orders for the figure will be honored.
Toys “R” Us said:
“We thank you for your patience as we work to remedy this situation and ensure our customers receive the products ordered.”
Eternal Darkness and Wii Vitality Sensor trademarks have been updated in the U.S.

Earlier this week, Nintendo updated the trademarks for Eternal Darkness and the Wii Vitality Sensor in the United States. Both were updated on December 17. There’s some talk about both products seeing some sort of development, but I’m not quite willing to go that far… yet.
Target apparently not taking anymore pre-orders for Rosalina & Luma amiibo

There were two very brief periods earlier this week when consumers could get online pre-orders in for the Rosalina & Luma amiibo over at Target. We didn’t mention that here since we assumed reservations would be available for a decent amount of time much like the Shulk, Meta Knight, and Lucario figures, which are exclusive to GameStop, Best Buy, and Toys “R” Us respectively. However, that’s apparently not the case.
Target’s PR team has provided the response below about the Rosalina pre-order situation:
“Rosalina Amiibo pre-orders were available on Target.com and based on guest demand, sold out quickly. Target stores and Target.com will begin to sell actual units on February 1, 2015.”
When asked if this means online pre-orders are finished for Rosalina, Target said: “That is correct”.

Last night, Toys “R” Us went on an amiibo cancelling binge. I would know, as I received three such notices for Lucario, Pit, and Captain Falcon.
Strangely enough, several amiibo are now back in stock and are available for pre-order again – namely Lucario, Ike, and King Dedede. Hopefully Toys “R” Us doesn’t pull any additional stunts!
Pokken Tournament has strict guidelines, sequels could happen

Korean site Inven recently had the opportunity to interview Bandai Namco’s Katsuhiro Harada. Among the topics discussed was Pokken Tournament, which is coming to arcades (and hopefully Wii U eventually).
Harada first noted that there are “really strict” guidelines when it comes to Pokken Tournament.
He also shared the following:
“There’s a huge fan base of children for Pokemon to appeal to. But surprisingly the idea of Pokken was well received. We first had the idea of having around 20 Pokemon trainers fight each other in the game but that idea was thrown out after 2 seconds.”
Finally, when asked about the possibility of Pokken becoming a new long term project (think sequels), Harada responded:
“I feel like this game (Pokken) can always be improved in new installments Having 700 different varieties of Pokemon gives a lot of freedom.”

Rumor: Best Buy Canada rep suggets more retailer-exclusive amiibo planned

Four retailer-exclusive amiibo have already been confirmed for North America. Shulk will only be available at GameStop, Best Buy is the exclusive store for Meta Knight, Lucario is at Toys “R” Us, and Target has Rosalina and Luma.
This might not be the end of retailer-exclusive amiibo, sadly. Check out this message from one Best Buy Canada representative:
Having anything be retailer-exclusive isn’t what anyone wants to see. I guess we’ll see how this plays out!
