Nintendo suspends compromised Nintendo Network IDs

A few hundred Nintendo Network IDs were recently thought to have been affected by some sort of hack. Squish Turtle obtained a statement from Nintendo, which states that “login information was taken from a third-party website”. This data was compromised, and unfortunately some users had the same login information for their Nintendo Network ID.
Affected accounts have now been suspended to avoid any further issues. Users will need to contact Nintendo to have their information updated and account restored.

Fire Emblem Heroes will limit minors to spending 12,000 yen per month

In Japan, Fire Emblem Heroes places a limit on the amount of cash that can be paid by minors. These players will only be able to spend 12,000 yen on the game each month. Other mobile titles in Japan have integrated a similar “safety guard” of sorts.
Fire Emblem Heroes launches on both iOS and Android on February 2. It’s the first free-to-play mobile game from Nintendo.

Game Informer ranks the top 50 games of 2016

Popular U.S. magazine Game Informer has kept up its tradition of ranking the top 50 games from a particular year. In its latest issue, the lineup for 2016 is published.
As ranked by release date, below is what Game Informer declared the top 50 games of last year:
HORI will be releasing Switch branded microSD cards

HORI will be releasing a bunch of Switch accessories, and it seems that they will also make their own microSD cards for the new Nintendo system. These new cards will have the Switch logo on them to assure consumers of their compatibility.
Cards will come in two formats: 16 GB and 32 GB. Japan will have both on launch day (March 3).

Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas officially coming to Switch

FDG Entertainment teased two games for Switch last October. The first is Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom. The second was thought to be Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas.
On Twitter, FDG Entertainment confirms that Oceanhorn is indeed its second Switch game. It should launch before the end of the year.
FDG’s tweet reads:
@JeGeekJePlay Yes, Oceanhorn will head to #NintendoSwitch later this year. Will run beautifully on the powerful Switch.

It was previously mentioned that FDG’s two Switch games were planned for the first half of 2017. Hopefully that’s still the case.

The Alliance Alive details new battle features

Famitsu has a next batch of details about FuRyu’s new RPG The Alliance Alive in this week’s issue. Three main battle features are explained.
During battles, characters may raise their morale based on the movements chosen by players. Once morale has reached a certain point, they will activate something called “Ignition”.

Suda51 on Super Fire Pro Wrestling Special, Killer7 for a global audience, developing for Wii

This month’s issue of Retro Gamer is starting to make the rounds. In it, an interview is published with Suda51, the developer of games such as No More Heroes and Killer7.
Some of the Nintendo-related excerpts have now been transcribed online, courtesy of Japanese Nintendo. Suda51 spoke about Super Fire Pro Wrestling Special, making Killer7 as intended for a global audience, and developing for Wii.

Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly sold through 80% of its initial shipment in Japan

During the week of January 16, Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly sold nearly 40,000 copies in Japan. Though that may seem a bit slow, the title sold through 80 percent of its initial shipment, according to Dengeki. Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly is off to a smooth start in Japan thus far, and may continue to sell at a steady rate going forward.

Amazon Canada / UK pre-orders – Mario Sports Superstars, amiibo

A few new reservations have opened up on Amazon Canada and the UK. Since there are several listings, we decided to share these now ahead of our normal pre-order update post tomorrow.
The latest pre-orders include Mario Sports Superstars on Amazon Canada, along with the Poochy and standalone Wolf Link amiibo. Amazon UK has Mario Sports Superstars plus the amiibo card packs.
