Super Mario series amiibo apparently won’t be rare

Amazon opened up pre-orders for the new Super Mario amiibo series last week. In just a few hours, stock was mostly gone. Yet despite the seemingly high demand for these new amiibo, none will be rare. Apparently.
Destructoid, citing a trusted source from GameStop, says that Nintendo was “confused” by the rush to pick up the latest amiibo. Representatives are telling GameStop and others stores that the figures will be stocked in “abundance,” and that no one should worry about not getting them on the first round of pre-orders. While Toad will allegedly be the “lightest allocation,” he will still not be considered “rare.”

Legend of Kay Anniversary heading to Wii U

Does Legend of Kay ring a bell for anyone? The 3D action platformer originally came out 2005 for the PlayStation 2, with a DS port following in 2010. Based on a retailer listing, it seems that Legend of Kay will be making a new appearance on a Nintendo platform later this year.
Amazon Germany is currently listing Legend of Kay Anniversary for Wii U. A tentative June 12 release date and €29.99 price point are included on the page.
Legend of Kay is definitely not the sort of game I would have expected to return after such a long period. It’ll be interesting to see what sort of changes are being made in the Wii U version.
Thanks to Shinun and daniel49324 for the tip.

Xenoblade Chronicles X tracks playtime beyond 100 hours
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 8 Comments
The original Xenoblade Chronicles had an issue keeping track of playtime. After 99 hours and 59 minutes, the counter wouldn’t progress any further.
This is something that Monolith Soft made sure to address in Xenoblade Chronicles X. Director Koh Kojima noted on Twitter:
“As always, thank you to the users for their support. I’m Xenoblade Chronicles X’s director, Kojima. The embargo on a lot of information pertaining to the game has been lifted, so I will be talking about it here.”
“First of all, as a greeting, I’ll talk about the game’s playtime display. There was talk about how, now matter how long you played, Xenoblade Chronicles would be completed in 99 hours and 59 minutes. And so, we’ve changed that this time around.”
“In the Famitsu interview a few days ago, Takahashi mentioned the time of ‘300 hours’ and of course the playtime will be properly displayed [this time around]. Of course, we’ve made it so there will be no problems even if you play beyond that amount of time.”
Driver 5 was once planned for various platforms including Wii

Ubisoft and Sumo Digital were once planning Driver 5 for several platforms, including Wii. Unseen64 shares some insight into the cancelled project with a new article published today.
Driver 5 never moved past pre-production, according to the site. The original goal was to have it out by early 2011.
Ubisoft’s partnership with Sumo Digital fell through for unspecified reasons. Eventually, the project was given to the internal team Ubisoft Reflections, who made Driver: San Francisco.

Update: Confirmed – Target apparently not restocking Rosalina amiibo, won’t have some wave 3 figures in store
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Rumors | 14 Comments
Update (2/2) Destructoid appears to have confirmed this news. Check out the following:
A Target employee has confirmed the authenticity of this document, an internal newsletter called “The Vibe in Electronics.” They state that running out of stock and not getting more shipments for a Target exclusive item is common. They also cement the fact that Sheik may be rare as there haven’t been many shipments coming in at all, but Toon Link is in fact common.
If you’re living in the U.S. and have interest in the Rosalina amiibo, you may want to try finding product sooner rather than later. An internal memo from Target indicates that the figure will not be restocked. As many of you know, Target is the only retailer selling the Rosalina amiibo in the United States.
There are some other interesting points from the memo as well. For instance, Target will apparently not stock the Mega Man, Sonic, King Dedede, and Ike amiibo in store. Consumers will instead be directed to order from the retailer’s website.
