Nintendo intends to make the Switch box size smaller by 20 percent, the company has confirmed.
The change will take place starting with production this month, and is targeted at the original model that first launched in 2017. In doing so, Nintendo hopes to improve transportation efficiency and increase supply for the year-end sales season, just in time for the holidays. Nintendo will also be taking advantage more of air freight.
With Nintendo reducing the size of the Switch box, packaging materials will also be cut down by 15 percent. The move also aims to appeal to consumers who are highly conscious of preserving the environment.
