Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition

Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition has been out on Switch for close to a year, but the game is still receiving updates. Versus Evil says another upcoming patch “will resolve the outstanding reports of bugs players have encountered and should bring the Switch port to parity with the original PC version.” The team has addressed stability issues, ranged attacks and spells, a few performance issues, and corrupted VFX of Chanter class spells.

Below are the full patch notes:

ConcernedApe has been tinkering away on a new 1.5 update for Stardew Valley. There’s no word yet on when it’ll be finished, but the developer teased fans today with a small post on social media.

ConcernedApe shared the screenshot above while asking if fans noticed anything new in Willy’s Shop. There’s now a door behind Willy plus a sign that the door leads to some sort of ship. Fans can also expect “a significant new piece of end-game content and much more”.

Right now the 1.5 update is said to be “coming along steadily.” ConcernedApe mentioned that it’s in a “nose to the grindstone” phase, but the team have met “some good milestones”.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ latest update, which was distributed last week, adds in new swimming and diving features. But as an unintended consequence, some players can now take advantage and scam others.

Prior to the update, it was possible to cordon off certain areas of the isle with fencing. It’s especially helpful when shielding your flowers and money trees, protecting items during trades, and more. However, the new update allows players to simply put on swim wear, jump off the pier, and move around the shore to get around the fences. Strangers could potentially cause mischief on your island, hit the minus button, and leave quietly.

Of course, this can be avoided by limiting online play to friends or those that you fully trust. You can also be a bit more guarded from now on and watch out for potential signs of those looking to cause mischief such as arriving on the island with swim wear or quickly changing into the swimming gear.

Update: Despite GameReactor’s report in native Spanish (which was written by one of the outlet’s Spanish editors), it seems that the site may have been reaching. Numerous GameXplain viewers have indicated that the discussion was more of the voice actors joking around about embargos, and was taken out of context. GameReactor’s original report has also been updated to reflect this.

Original: Nintendo announced The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 just over a year ago. But given the silence since then, fans have been hoping to receive any sort of update pertaining to the game.

One possible hint regarding the project’s status may have come about thanks to comments from its Spanish voice actors. Marc Navarro and Nerea Alfonso, who voice Revali and Zelda respectively, indicated that their work has already wrapped up.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition

System: Switch
Release date: May 29, 2020
Developer: Monolith Soft
Publisher: Nintendo

It’s about time Xenoblade Chronicles got its definitive edition. Its original release at the tail end of the Wii’s life, exacerbated by the game’s staggered international releases, was far from ideal. Even if you got the chance to play the original, one couldn’t help but feel that Monolith Soft was pushing the Wii beyond what it should reasonably be doing. It was an open world JRPG that was a generation ahead of its time on hardware that was a generation behind the times. If you’re anything like me, you revel in watching developers push the technical boundaries of outdated hardware – but I could hardly blame anyone who struggled to embrace Xenoblade’s obvious visual compromises. Years later, the game was ported to New 3DS. Needless to say, while that version is its own kind of low-tech marvel, an even lower resolution screen with even further cut back visuals was far from the ideal way to experience the grand scope of Xenoblade’s world, where life flourishes on the standing corpses of two gods, with people and animal life existing on an almost unimaginably small bacterial scale. Finally, on a system at the height of its life, with revamped graphics – albeit visuals that are still a little soupy as has been characteristic of Monolith Soft’s Switch engine – Xenoblade is poised for success beyond its niche and scattered Wii evangelists.
