Square Enix has officially outlined the special editions and Switch hardware bundles that are coming for Dragon Quest XI S in Japan.

The information dump includes the contents of the Dragon Quest XI S Loto Edition Switch hardware bundle, the Gorgeous Edition, and the Super Gorgeous Edition — all of which will release in Japan on September 27th.

Nintendo just passed along a press release recapping all of its activities at E3 2019 today. We have the full thing below.

REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Nintendo kicked off the first day of the E3 video game trade show with big announcements in its morning Nintendo Direct presentation. Nintendo followed its presentation with a day of Nintendo Treehouse: Live gameplay and interview segments designed to give fans a deeper look at various games:

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield: Developers from GAME FREAK inc. explained how wild and random encounters work in the game. They also showed off the in-game battle system, Max Raid Battles and details of the Wild Area. The games are scheduled to launch Nov. 15.


Square Enix has revealed a new Dragon Quest slime controller for Switch. It acts like a Pro controller, complete with triggers, thumbsticks, motion controls, and more. The main difference here is the rubber-coated blue slime and large shape.

The controller will be out in September in Japan. It will come with cardboard stand to let fans dress their Switch up like a Dragon Quest treasure chest.

The first trailer for Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 debuted earlier today. In it, we saw surfing as one of the included events. But whereas Mario removes his shoes and we see his feet, that isn’t the case for Sonic. The Blue Blur leaves his gear on for the event.

Polygon reached out to SEGA about that, and actually received a response. Sonic Team boss Takashi Tezuka said, “Sonic doesn’t take off his shoes (in canon).” So there’s your explanation.
