A new update for Cytus Alpha has gone live in Switch. Players can now access version 1.0.3.

Reports began to surface today that Super Mario Maker 2 won’t let you play with friends online. Some thought that this could have just been a miscommunication, but that apparently isn’t so. GameXplain followed up with Nintendo and reconfirmed that you can only play online with random people.

Nintendo said in a statement:

Killer Queen Black will be sold physically on Switch, Liquid Bit and BumbleBear Games have revealed. Nighthawk Interactive will distribute the strategic eight-player arcade action platformer at retail, which was first announced for Switch at last year’s E3. A themed controller skin will be included in the package.

Nintendo previously made it clear that Super Mario Maker 2 will support multiplayer through online play in competitive and co-op gameplay. You can also play with friends nearby with multiple Switch systems.

After members of the media went hands-on with the game, we’ve learned about another multiplayer aspect in Super Mario Maker 2. Couch co-op is supported, meaning you’ll be able to play through levels with multiple people on one Switch. This should support up to four players.

Super Mario Maker 2 only lets you play with random players online. No matter whether you’re interested in co-op or competitive action, the same rule applies. That means you can’t connect with friends online.

Within the past few weeks, it was announced that a stylus for Super Mario Maker 2 will be offered in Europe and Japan. In fact, this is even being extended to consumers who pick up the digital version.

Nintendo hasn’t shared any news for North America, and there’s a reason for that. USgamer received confirmation from the company that there aren’t any plans to bring the stylus to North America. Nintendo did not provide an explanation as to why that’s the case.
