Reggie on what separates 3DS and Switch, says price will influence purchasing decision
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News, Switch | 49 Comments
Nintendo currently has two big products on the market: Switch and 3DS. Things were made more complicated last night when the 2DS XL was announced, which is another product for consumers to consider.
That being said, Nintendo of America Reggie Fils-Aime stressed to The Wall Street Journal that the “experience is a bit different.” Ultimately, “the decision to buy one Nintendo device over another likely will come down to price.”
As Reggie explained:
“The gaming experience is a bit different. The Switch is more powerful than the 2DS and 3DS machines, and has other hardware differences. A key one: a DS is smaller than the Switch tablet, making it easier to fit into a pocket or backpack. For many consumers, the decision to buy one Nintendo device over another likely will come down to price. At $299, a Switch costs about double a new 2DS XL. Having multiple Switches is expensive.”

Reggie on how Nintendo handles production, New 2DS XL supply won’t be an issue
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, General Nintendo, News, Switch | 15 Comments
The NES Classic Edition was tough to find ever since it launched towards the end of last year. Nintendo didn’t help the situation by announcing its discontinuation. In light of that, The Verge asked Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime about how Nintendo determines how many units of a product to make.
He said:
“We create a plan, we build our programs against that plan. But based on what we see in the marketplace we make adjustments, and we go from there.”
Regarding Switch, Reggie confirmed that Nintendo did indeed increase production following the early response.

GameStop: Switch exceeding its expectations, selling out in hours, strong sales to continue
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 16 Comments
GameStop is once again talking up Switch’s strong start and sales.
While speaking with Forbes, senior director of merchandising Eric Bright said Nintendo’s new platform is exceeding expectations. Lining up with what has been seen so far, it’s selling out in hours rather than days. Bright added that high Switch sales are likely to continue “for quite some time.”
Bright’s full words:
“It’s exceeding our expectations. We knew it would be a high demand product, but our Switch allocations are selling out not in days, but in hours…the demand is so high that consumers have to react quickly to be able to get their hands on them. Right now we’re not seeing sales going down at all, and I would expect that to continue for quite some time.”

Constructor bumped back to this summer
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 0 comments
Constructor was originally planned for Switch’s launch. Shortly after that news was shared, we heard about a delay to April 28. It’s now been pushed back again, as System 3 now says we should be seeing it sometime this summer. We’re unclear why Constructor isn’t ready, though hopefully we won’t have to report on any additional delays.
