Switch

Update: We’ve learned some new details about the game thanks to Gematsu. The Switch version will feature over 100 songs, including ones that weren’t present in the smartphone version. The game will launch in March in Japan for a price of 2,314 Yen.

A new Switch game was just revealed via Famitsu – Voez, a rhythm game developed by Flyhigh Works, in which you get to play various songs and get to experience the lives of the six youthful members that make up the titular band. The game is actually not new, but seems to be a port of a smartphone game that was released a while ago. According to Famitsu, development on the game is 99% complete, so it’ll likely be released fairly soon. While it has only been announced for Japan at the moment, the smartphone version also has English language support, so a Western release does not seem unlikely.

For today only (the 21st), Nintendo is airing a special commercial for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It’s very similar to the past trailer, with some extra scenes thrown in. I’m never too sure what to make of spoilers today, but just in case, you may want to hold off on watching the clip below if you want to go in completely fresh.

The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ was originally on track to be a launch title for Switch. Unfortunately, that’s no longer the case. Nicalis has confirmed that the game has been pushed back slightly “due to issues way beyond our control”. It’s still coming in March – just not March 3.

The new date for The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ may very well be March 17. That’s what Amazon and Best Buy have at the moment.

Nicalis announced an extra bonus for The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ today. Buyers will receive a 20-page full-color instruction booklet with their purchase.

In an interview with Game Informer, Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma had a chance to speak about non-Nintendo titles. He told the magazine that he didn’t play a ton of games in the past, but has changed that. Aonuma played the likes of Far Cry, The Witcher, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in research for Breath of the Wild, but passed on Grand Theft Auto due to it being a bit too violent for his tastes.

Aonuma told Game Informer:

“In the past I didn’t play many video games. But then I realized, this isn’t right, I have to. So nowadays, I actually play a lot of overseas titles.”

“While playing those games, I do find some ideas, but it’s not that it connects directly to Zelda to where I would take something and use it in Zelda, but it’s more of something I keep in the back of my head while developing the game.”

Physical copies of The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ were already set to come with a reversible cover and sticker sheets. Now Nicalis is tossing in an extra bonus as well. When you pick up the game, you’ll also receive a 20-page full-color instruction booklet.

Nicalis shared the news on Twitter:

Update (2/20): This appears to have sold out now. Other two versions are still up with a 40 percent discount.

Original (2/19): The Deluxe Edition guide for Zelda: Breath of the Wild started out at a pretty hefty $80 on Amazon. However, the retailer has now reduced the price in a big way.

You can pick up a copy of the most complete guide for just $47.99. It’s a 40 percent discount, dropping from the original asking price of $80.

Nintendo of France is continuing its Q&A video interview series with Eiji Aonuma, producer of the Zelda franchise. For today’s question, he was asked if Link’s tunic will be present in Breath of the Wild.

Aonuma started out by talking about the clothing system and how you can change what Link is wearing whenever you like. Clothing can be obtained from chests, shops, and special events (latter is probably for story events or sidequests). He also points out how Link’s blue uniform is also worn by Princess Zelda. Aonuma then closed out by confirming that yes, Link’s well-known green tunic is in the game.

Aonuma and Shigeru Miyamoto kept quiet as to whether the tunic would be present when asked last June. Most fans likely had expected it to be present somehow though. Had it not been included at all, that would have been very surprising.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Amperex, otherwise known as ATL, is providing the battery for Switch. That’s the same company behind the replacement batteries that powered the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

Switch has a non-removable battery, though Nintendo will replace it for a fee. Battery length is estimated to be 2.5 to 6.5 hours.
