Nintendo has finally started to share some news about what we can expect from the eShop on Switch when the system launches next Friday.

First, a Nindies Showcase video presentation will be shown on February 28. This will be available here at the following times:

– 9 AM PT
– 12 PM ET
– 5 PM in the UK
– 6 PM in Europe

Nintendo says that the eShop will feature more than 60 indie games this year. FAST RMX, Specter of Torment, and Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove are confirmed for launch.

Moving away specifically from indies, Nintendo has officially confirmed that eShop funds from the Wii U and 3DS can also be carried over to Switch. Also, Virtual Console will not be available for launch.

Nintendo additionally made mention of Switch’s day one update. It “downloads in the background, is designed to install quickly and doesn’t disrupt gameplay.”

Continue on below for today’s official announcement.

SEGA held a Puyo Puyo Tetris tournament on February 4, featuring the Switch version. They have now uploaded videos of the competition. You can watch a brief overview of the event below, and lots more footage after the break.

As stinky as it is, online order cancellations do happen from time to time. Occasionally retailers will mess up, or something will happen along the way that causes it to happen.

There’s something strange taking place with Amazon though. Quite a few customers have shared an email received from the retailer about their Zelda: Breath of the Wild Master Edition pre-orders being cancelled. A $10 gift card is being handed out as compensation.

Two versions of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim exist. There’s the original game from 2011, as well as the Special Edition remaster from 2016. We know that the RPG is in development for Switch, but in what form is currently unknown.

Unfortunately, Bethesda’s Todd Howard isn’t providing any new insight. Polygon asked about the Switch release, but was told that Howard “can’t say” whether it will be the original Skyrim or remaster.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is planned to hit Switch this fall. Hopefully we’ll get a clearer answer about the game before then.

Update: This also works on eShop cards. You can get a $50 card for $41.37.

Original: Switch systems only come with 32GB of storage (technically a bit less than that actually), so most owners are probably going to want to purchase a microSD card. And thankfully, Amazon is having a “sale” of sorts today.

Customers have voted Amazon number one in corporate reputation. To celebrate, the retailer is letting consumers use the code BIGTHANKS today on orders over $50 to save $8.62. That means you can nab the SanDisk Ultra 200GB microSD card for $61.32.

By the way, the code doesn’t work on games. You may find use for it with something else though – like accessories.

Without a Switch pre-order, it will be hard to buy one on launch day for sure. However, in a news release GameStop said that they will have a ‘limited supply’ of  Switch units for customers that enter the store and don’t have a pre-order.

“Customers who were not able to pre-order the system are encouraged to attend GameStop’s midnight launch events.”

We all know what happened with the NES Classic and how few units ended up on sale at video game stores around the world. So maybe this time it will be relatively possible to grab a Switch without having it pre-ordered online beforehand.

Additionally, GameStop have also announced that they will sell only two Switch bundles:

  • Bundle 1: Nintendo Switch + Switch Pro Controller + The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – $429.99
  • Bundle 2: Bundle 1 + Piggyback’s official guide to Breath of the Wild – $454.99

We don’t know when these bundles will be up on their website, but we’ll update with any new information.
