6 narrative-rich Switch indies we played at PAX West 2023

We’ve already highlighted a ton of great games that we had the chance to demo at PAX West 2023, but some of the best titles at the show this year were ones that look to be experimenting with storytelling in new or compelling ways, often innovating with game mechanics too. Here are just a handful of narrative-rich games that we had the opportunity to play during Seattle’s big annual gaming expo – and if you’re a fan of particularly off-the-wall premises and presentation, you’ll have even more to look forward to.
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged announced for Switch

Original (5/31): Milestone made it official today that it’s developing Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged, and it’ll be launching on Switch later this year. The announcement follows previous leaks surrounding the game.
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged will include motorbikes and ATVs, new locations, new game modes, improvements such as the ability to create a party with friends, a story-driven career mode starring four original characters, and more. We have a bunch of details below.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 is closing out the week with its latest character spotlight trailer for Nigel Thornberry.
Nigel is another character back from the last game, but with new techniques. One change is that he can now flap his wings like a bird up to four times in the air. Along those same lines, he has a more elegant Falcon Dive move. Nigel can also perform moves like his down special “Smashing”, side special “Gorilla Double Punch”, neutral special “Bull Stampede”, and up special “Whale Crash”. Note that Nigel is the lightest character in the game.

One of the more significant aspects of Fae Farm is the Fae Acres location, and we’ll explain how you can get it in our latest guide.
Farming and crafting are two key gameplay aspects of Fae Farm, and you’re not limited to just one home: shortly after completing Saltwater Mines you’ll get access to a second Homestead right above your first one. Once you clear the second dungeon, Floating Ruins, you’ll gain access to another home, the Fae Acres.

TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge getting new Anniversary Edition physical release

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge already had a physical release in the past, but it’s getting an updated version in the form of the Anniversary Edition. It will be handled by Limited Run Games in North America and Merge Games in PAL regions.
The TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge Anniversary Edition includes the main game and the Dimension Shellshock DLC. This includes Survival Mode, two brand new playable characters, Usagi and Karai, exclusive color palettes, and more. Limited Run Games is also putting in a sprite sticker sheet, art booklet, and Pizza Hut personal pan pizza coupon. Additionally, a Classic Edition of the Anniversary Edition is up for grabs that packs in a retro styled slipcover, VHS style box, and strategy guide.

Circana has released a listing of the top ten best-selling games in the U.S. for the month of August 2023.
After coming in at #6 in July, Pikmin 4 falls to #11. Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom reclaims the top spot for Switch and actually moves up a spot to #6. And speaking of games increasing their positions, Minecraft goes from #14 to #9.

Asterix & Obelix: Heroes announced for Switch

Original (5/17): Today, publisher Nacon and developer Jumpgate-studio GameXcite announced Asterix & Obelix: Heroes. It will release on Switch in September 2023.

Mortal Kombat 1 day-one update out now, patch notes

Mortal Kombat 1 is starting to launch, and we have the patch notes for a day-one update. Some players can get early access through the game’s Premium Edition.
