Grasshoppers beat out ants in Splatoon’s fourth Japanese Splatfest

Splatoon’s fourth Japanese Splatfest wrapped up a few hours ago. The results are in, and we now know that grasshoppers were victorious over ants.
Grasshoppers were victorious in both popularity (61 percent) and wins (53 percent). That led to an overall score of 273 points compared to the ants’ total of 227 points.

Splatoon – European Splatfest #4 set for next weekend

As is the case in North America, Splatoon’s fourth European Splatfest will be taking place next weekend. The battle will begin on August 29 at 6 PM BST, and has signing going up against dancing.
Nintendo tweeted out the news about the new European Splatfest over on Twitter earlier today, writing:
The next European Splatfest in #Splatoon will be on 29/08 at 18:00 BST!

Latest Taiko no Tatsujin game announced for Wii U

Bandai Namco has announced the latest Taiko no Tatsujin game for Wii U. A live stream held just a short while ago revealed the existence of Taiko Drum Master: Atsumete ? Tomodachi Dai Sakusen! for Nintendo’s console.
Bandai Namco will be releasing a special 15th anniversary box for all first-print copies, pictured below. It will come with several bonuses in addition to the game. You’ll also notice that the box has an amiibo logo.

Additionally, Studio Ghibli is creating a special short animation that will be included with the game. Here’s some promotional art:

We’re sadly a bit short on game details at the moment. However, it’s confirmed that the title is heading to Japan on November 26. We should be getting another update in the near future.

Pokken Tournament is coming to Wii U, it was announced at the 2015 Pokemon World Championships. The game will be available spring 2016 worldwide.

Nintendo UK shares details about plans for Insomnia and Legends of Gaming Live 2015

Nintendo UK has shared details about what it has in store at Legends of Gaming Live 2015 and Insomnia as part of its 2015 experiential activity.
Splatoon will be featured in a big way, including Private Battles where friends and foes can splat it up in customizable matches. Also planned are daily Splatoon tournaments for the best players and teams, and the two finalist teams of the exhibition floor Splatoon tournament at Legends of Gaming Live 2015 will have the last battle on the main stage in the evening.
Super Mario Maker will also be playable at exhibition stands at Insomnia and Legends of Gaming Live 2015, in addition to Star Fox Zero.
At Insomnia, attendees can win £20 eShop credit while Legends of Gaming 2015 offers a range of prizes, from £20 credit to a Splatoon hat and a selection of Nintendo games. Runners up at Legends of Gaming Live 2015 will also be provided rewarded with £10 eShop credit.
Here’s what Nintendo has planned for three challenges on the main arena stage:
Super Smash Bros.for Wii U, Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon. In celebration of the YouTube gaming community, Nintendo will be offering the chance for the audience at the Legends of Gaming Live 2015 event to game with some of the UK’s most prolific YouTubers including Calfreezy, Wroetshaw, Ashley Marie Gaming and Twinsane. The YouTubers will compete in Tower Control battles for Splatoon live on the main stage alongside two Kiss FM DJ’s.
YouTube stars Ali-A, Syndicate, Dan TDM and Ashley Marie Gaming will battle against each other on the fast-paced Mario Kart 8 game on the main arena stage at Legends of Gaming Live 2015. Audience members at the event will also have the chance to be part of the Super Smash Bros. challenge and join YouTubers Ali A and Wroesteshaw on the main stage by entering a ballot hosted on the Legends of Gaming Live 2015 website and will be contacted in advance of the event.
Insomnia and Legends of Gaming Live 2015 are taking place in Coventry and London respectively. Below are the details about each:
Insomnia (28th– 31st August) – Ricoh Arena, Phoenix Way, CV6 6GE, Coventry
