Nobuo Uematsu was interested in working on Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News, Wii U | 9 Comments
Nobuo Uematsu worked on Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and ended up creating the game’s orchestral theme. As for how his participation with Brawl’s development came about, Uematsu told Game Informer:
“I have a feeling that I got the job offer from Mr. Sakurai while we were drinking. He would let me selfishly do whatever I wanted, whether it be using an orchestra or using opera singers.”
It appears that Uematsu would have been interested in returning for the new Smash Bros. games on Wii U/3DS, but wasn’t asked to be brought back.
Uematsu said:
“Why didn’t I participate in the new Smash Brothers!? Ask Mr. Sakurai! I wanted to work on it! All joking aside, it’s just that, since there are many video game musicians representing Japan who are already participating, there’s no need for me.”

Wave 4 of amiibo releasing late next month in Australia/New Zealand

In Australia and New Zealand… Yes, still no date for the always bereft United States, but we remain hopeful that sooner or later we’ll get an official date on a Smash wave for the first time since Super Smash Bros. Wii U released way back in November (we probably won’t).
Nintendo of AU/NZ just tweeted that on April 25th, Australia and New Zealand will be receiving Wave 4 of the Super Smash Bros. line of amiibo. Wave 4 includes Robin, Lucina, Wario, Charizard, Ness, and Pac-Man.
These amiibo – Robin, Lucina, Pac-Man, Wario, Charizard & Ness – will be available in AU/NZ on 25th April! pic.twitter.com/NmxDxmTcWh

So far the US is currently the only region without a solid release date. So, the usual.
Do note that there are also no preorders available ANYWHERE for this wave, which makes you wonder what kind of a mosh-pit is sure to ensue in retailers once people get word that they’ve released. There is certainly still time for preorders to happen, but if prior waves are any indication, preorders have usually begun soon after the release of a new wave, and we still haven’t heard a thing regarding wave 4 other than “they’re coming” from a Nintendo Direct way back in mid-January.
Are you planning on picking any of Wave 4 when they slowly but not so surely release? Let us know below!

February 2015 NPD: Kirby and the Rainbow Curse sells 52,000 copies
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 9 Comments
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse’s debut sales in the U.S. are in. Last month, the game sold 52,000 copies, according to reliable NPD leaker “creamsugar”. It should be noted that because Kirby and the Rainbow Curse launched towards the end of February, that figure only accounts for about a week of sales.
The only other piece of Kirby and the Rainbow Curse sales data comes from Japan. First week sales for the game (as revealed by Media Create a few weeks ago) came in at 32,000 units. Total units sold should be at around 60,000 units at this point.

February 2015 NPD: 3DS hardware sells nearly 400,000 units, Wii U sales up
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS, News, Wii U | 9 Comments
Nintendo has shared a notable stat from this month’s NPD report. According to the company, all versions of the 3DS sold a combined 395,000 units in the U.S. last month.
A Nintendo spokesperson told GamesBeat, “The great majority of these sales were New Nintendo 3DS XL systems, which sold 130 percent more units in its initial frame than Nintendo 3DS XL did when it launched on Aug. 19, 2012.”
Gaming hardware sales for the industry were up $378.2 million for a 10 percent bump year-over-year. The launch of the New 3DS XL provided a large contribution to that figure.
Regarding Wii U, Nintendo says that “hardware sales have increased by more than 20 percent” thus far in 2015 compared to the same period in 2014.
