Wii U

The Wii U version of Disney Infinity has been given a new patch. Those who own the game should see a 1.3.0 update available. We’re not sure what it does at present, but we’ll let you know if we find any concrete information.

Thanks to Jason for the tip.

EDGE has put up its full interview with Mario Kart 8 director Kosuke Yabuki. We’ve already covered the most important bits, but additional comments regarding the game’s anti-gravity feature, updates for classic courses, and d-pad controls are now in as well. Head past the break for Yabuki’s words.

Disney Interactive has officially announced Maleficent and Merida for Disney Infinity 2.0.

Here’s an overview of both characters:

Merida: With her untamed fiery red locks, this headstrong Disney•Pixar Princess will definitely leave her mark in Disney Infinity. Between her sharp sword and bow combo attacks with ricocheting arrows, she can upgrade her aim with elemental freeze arrows, freezing enemies in front of her then following up with rapid shots showing off her impressive athletic skills as an archer and sword fighter.

Maleficent: The wicked title character from the upcoming Walt Disney Studios film employs numerous magical powers and can attack using her magic in melee and ranged combat. To defeat enemies, Maleficent has the ability to utilise projectile and area of effect attacks that affect multiple targets within a specified area, brambles that she summons from the ground and ravens that she can call on to attack targets.

Merida and Maleficent will be available in retail stores this fall.

It was nearly a couple of months ago that Nintendo’s Hideki Konno commented on why Mario Kart 8 lacks a track editor. Now the game’s director has weighed in as well.

While speaking with STACK, Kosuke Yabuki said:

You are referring to the tool that users can design the course freely, right? If so, we have decided to give it a pass this time. There are so many elements and features in Mario Kart 8 – in addition to ground, water and sky sections, there is now anti-gravity and it is required to design the tracks to utilise three dimensions. If we added a simple course editor, it wouldn’t be a very user friendly tool. When we develop a tool like this, we want to make sure it is easy to use for everyone, but in order to do so for a project like this, we would need many more innovations. It may come one day in the future.

Hey everyone, Austin here. Just wanted to let you know that Mario Kart 8 is available on the Wii U eShop despite the fact that it’s only midnight in the eastern time zone. I’m in central time and have just begun my download, as you can see above, so it can be assumed that this also applies to mountain and pacific time zones. Let us know if this isn’t the case!
