December 20: Konami has announced a new version 1.4.0 update for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 that will be going live on Switch soon.

The package is adding new features such as smoothing, game screen settings, and screen filter for the original game and bonus content. An audio settings feature will also be available.

New Heroes & Rearmed Reinhardt is the next summoning event for Fire Emblem Heroes, Nintendo and Intelligent Systems have announced.

Rearmed Hero Reinhardt: Thrud Reborn, along with three other new Heroes from Fire Emblem: Thracia 776, will be included. Tina: Playful Scamp, Safy: Font of Piety, and Lara: Step Lively make up the rest of the lineup.

Hamster kept up its string of Arcade Archives releases on Switch with Mighty Guy this week, and we now have gameplay. Footage comes from the company’s latest live stream as usual.

According to Warner Bros. Games, Hogwarts Legacy sales have surpassed 22 million copies worldwide.

It’s unclear how many of those sales are from Switch – especially given how that version launched at the end of 2023. However, based on recent eShop charts, U.S. data from Circana, and more, it seems to be doing very well on the platform.

Regarding the sales success for Hogwarts Legacy, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment president David Haddad told Variety:

The Pokemon Company today announced that it will be discontinuing its official Pokemon TV app.

It will not longer be available for download on January 8, 2024 – that’s today. This applies to the Switch eShop, App Store, Google Play, Roku Channel Store, Amazon Appstore, and Pokemon.com.

Publisher Eastasiasoft, in collaboration with developer Kanipro Games, today announced plans for a Switch version of Violet Wisteria. It’s scheduled for March 2024.

Violet Wisteria is a retro-styled action platformer with a unique tri-color attack system. Additional information is included in the following overview:

Cult of the Lamb players will soon be able to access new content as the game is getting a new “Sins of the Flesh” update. It goes live on January 16, 2024.

Described as the biggest update yet, “the Cult’s tendrils extend even further with a blasphemous beneficence of quests, features, improvements and a deliciously evil new resource that rewards those leaders prepared to yield to the Sins of the Flesh.”

In partnership with Idea Factory, Eastasiasoft today announced Hakuoki: Chronicles of Wind and Blossom for Switch. It will be available in 2024.

Hakuoki: Chronicles of Wind and Blossom includes a pair of remastered visual novels – specifically Edo Blossoms and Kyoto Winds. Both feature “revised text for the best possible experience”.

Sail Forth got a big “Open Seas” update on Switch this week, which is version 1.4.4.

The update is said to increase exploration and sailing aspects with a fully open world as there are no longer any boundaries between locations or loading screens. Additionally, world map generation has been redesigned to improve exploration. That’s along with other elements such as a new boat.
