Over 5,300 Meta Knight amiibo listed for one Best Buy distribution center, restock looking likely

It’s looking very likely that Best Buy is planning a restock of the Meta Knight amiibo. Over 5,300 units of the figure have been listed for one of the retailer’s distribution center, which should mean that additional stock will be making its way to stores sometime in the future. We’ll keep you updated on the situation as it develops.
Nintendo finally confirms the Mario – Silver Edition amiibo, out May 29

Following a number of leaks, Nintendo has finally confirmed the Mario – Silver Edition amiibo. The figure is launching in North America on May 29 as expected for $12.99. Mario – Silver Edition amiibo will be sold at all stores.
Nintendo noted in its announcement today that this latest figure “will have the same functionality and work with all games that are compatible with Mario amiibo.”

Amazon Canada is now taking pre-orders for the silver Mario amiibo. Reservations can be placed here. Keep in mind that Amazon Canada doesn’t ship to the U.S., sadly!
Just like with other retailers, Amazon Canada lists a May 29 release date for the silver Mario amiibo. That still hasn’t been confirmed by Nintendo at this point, but it’s pretty much a lock.
Marth amiibo restocks appear to be extremely limited

We have been seeing Marth amiibo restocks trickling in so far this May. Amazon has momentarily had some available, so quick in fact there wasn’t even time to get the news out. Now GameStop seems to be plagued with the same issue. Reports are currently indicating that although select GameStop’s are seeing Marth amiibo’s restocked, they are only receiving one or two per location. At this time the best course of action would probably be to call or stop in to your local shop and see if they have any available. Currently there is no confirmation of whether Marth will be made available on their website but stay tuned for more details.

The restock of the Marth amiibo is happening – slowly but surely. Amazon has been taking orders during very, very brief periods (so brief in fact that by the time we’d put a post up, the figure would already be sold out). GameStop is now joining in on the fun as well.
Marth isn’t available online, but you may have luck finding him in-store. GameStop’s inventory tracker indicates that the amiibo is starting to appear at some locations. You can try finding a nearby GameStop outlet that has the Marth figure here.

Nintendo shares European release dates for upcoming amiibo

Nintendo has announced the release dates for several upcoming amiibo.
Ganondorf, Zero Suit Samus, Dark Pit, and Palutena are due out on June 26. Bowser Jr., Dr. Mario, and Pikmin & Olimar amiibo are releasing on July 17.
The situation is much different in North America. Dark Pit and Palutena are coming in July, while all of other figures aren’t planned for launch until September.

The moderation team over on Reddit has posted unconfirmed figures for Target’s inventory of upcoming amiibo. Supposedly, the information was obtained from a trusted source, and indicates how much stock the retailer has for figures like the upcoming Smash Bros. and Splatoon figures.
As expected, Lucina and Robin will end up being the toughest to find. Marth’s restock also seems to be rather small, although that also isn’t a major surprise.
Yoshi’s Woolly World also works with non-Yoshi amiibo for design unlocks

Yoshi’s Woolly World will be compatible with more than just the upcoming plushies and Yoshi figures. As revealed through the game’s Australian packaging, other amiibo such as Mario, Luigi, Peach and “more” unlock Yoshi designs based on the character scanned. No images yet, sadly!

Replenishment of amiibo coming to Japan on May 14th, more to follow early June

Nintendo just announced via their Twitter that they will have a new shipment of amiibo for Japan on May 14th. The figures in question are Fox, Wii Fit Trainer, and Pit. After that shipment, in early June, Rosalina and Mega Man will be replenished.
We’ve known for a while now that there have been plans to have supply meet demand at some point. Though it’s obvious America is in the most dire situation, hopefully this is a sign of good things to come. We have to start somewhere!

We launched a new product category – amiibo – simultaneously with “Super Smash Bros for Wii U,” and the end of the subject fiscal term marked a total shipment of approximately 10.5 million units worldwide. As we had shipped approximately 5.7 million units by the end of calendar year 2014, it is safe to say that we achieved very strong growth even in the period immediately after the year-end sales season was over. Our assessment is that people purchase additional amiibo figures without any seasonal bias, as they are relatively more affordable than video game titles.
Our consumers have been inconvenienced by stock shortages on some of the figures in our amiibo lineup. We have increased production for amiibo figures that have sold out very quickly after launch, that are indispensable to play a certain game and for which we have received strong demand from retailers and consumers. However, we are very sorry that we can?t promise at what point we will likely be able to resolve the current situation because figures such as these require a considerable amount of time to produce, store shelf space is limited and it is difficult to precisely predict the exact amount of overall demand.
On the other hand, the number of software titles compatible with amiibo is increasing and consumers’ recognition and understanding for amiibo has improved significantly compared to the launch period, so we believe that we can predict further sales growth.
This pie graph shows the most recent regional shipment breakdown of amiibo. The U.S. and Canada, shown in red in the graph, have an overwhelmingly large 66 percent share, showing a tremendous presence overall.
In addition to figure offerings in the amiibo lineup this year, we are planning to release Yarn Yoshi amiibo and card-type amiibo. The first software title that is compatible with these amiibo cards is “Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer,” which for Nintendo 3DS. Simultaneously, we will also launch the “Nintendo 3DS NFC Reader/Writer” so that not only the owners of New Nintendo 3DS, which is equipped with NFC functionality, but also the owners of the original Nintendo 3DS systems can play with amiibo. The NFC Reader/Writer enables consumers to play with amiibo on the original Nintendo 3DS systems, and we believe we can expect further growth in amiibo sales with this significant increase in the number of compatible hardware systems.
