Animal Crossing: New Horizons

The reveal of the new Animal Crossing-themed Nintendo Switch caused quite a stir on the internet last night. Nintendo has now confirmed that the special system will also be available in Europe, though with a few differences. Instead of March 13 like in North America, the system will be available on March 20, the same day Animal Crossing: New Horizons launches. As such, the system also comes with a download code for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It seems like the Animal Crossing-themed Switch will only be available in this bundle and can’t be purchased separately in Europe.

Nintendo also confirmed that the two AC-themed Carrying Cases will be available in Europe on March 20 as well.

Finally, here’s a brief trailer showing off the system:

Nintendo Australia updated its game page for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, sharing the latest details about how multiplayer works.

First, up to eight players will be able to reside on an island. Four residents of the same island can play together at once on a single system.

Nintendo also says that eight players will be able to play together on one player’s island both online and locally.

As we heard earlier in the week, Target is planning a pre-order bonus for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Those who reserve the game will be treated to a unique journal.

Aside from Target, Best Buy will have its own pre-order bonus – specifically a Phone & Tech badge.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons isn’t the only big game launching on March 20. Doom Eternal, which was originally scheduled for last November, is now due out alongside Nintendo’s juggernaut title.

Doom Eternal director Hugo Martin only had positive things to say about that during an interview with GameSpot. Martin only wants other games and studios to do well, and he’s personally “excited” to play the new Animal Crossing in a couple of months.

Target is planning a pre-order bonus for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The retailer’s upcoming ad has leaked, which shows a journal with a custom 2020 calendar as an incentive for reserving the Switch game.

It’s a bit small, but here’s a look:

Today, the Nintendo UK store opened pre-orders for Animal Crossing: New Horizon. Two different bonuses are up for grabs. You can nab either a tote bag or a pins pack, both of which are pictured above.
