In its first week in Japan, Mega Man Legacy Collection sold 23,942 units as reported by Media Create, or 22,259 copies if you’re going with Dengeki. Based on information from the latter sales tracker, the game sold through 50 percent of its initial shipment. Mega Man Legacy Collection is a package of classic titles rather than a brand new release in the series, so it’s a bit tough to judge its performance.

At Monster Hunter Festa this year, Capcom distributed the Monster Hunter Generations Concept Art Book. This has some interesting information about concepts for a pair of unused weapons. At one point, Capcom was considering the Hunting Hound and Wyvern Boomerang.

Here are some of the details about the two weapons as translated by Siliconera:

Hunting Hound

– Gunner class
– Dog is the primary weapon
– Dog could have armor made for it
– These would give it unique attacks and behavior
– Could find Monsters based on scent, or climbing to high places
– Issue button commands to coordinate attacks
– Ex: target body parts, like the tail, or focus on breaking horns, etc.
– Issuing a “follow the tail!” order would even have the pooch follow the Wyvern into the air
– Could ride it to move about the map faster, and it could be fed to recover health or stamina

Wyvern Boomerang

– Combos were even designed for this weapon
– Overhead attack not unlike the Great Sword
– Diversity is in its throwing attacks and how the player interacts with it in midair
– Throw it forward with “X”
– Throw it upward with “X+A”
– Round-house throw with “A”
– Before catching the boomerang after a throw, you’d be able to punch it back out into the air towards a Monster
– It could even break into two for more advanced combos

Monster Hunter X is officially heading west. Today, it was announced during the Nintendo Direct that the 3DS title is being localized as Monster Hunter Generations. It’ll be out this summer.

Last month’s issue of Nintendo Dream has a big interview with Takeshi Yamazaki and Motohide Eshiro from Capcom about all things Ace Attorney. The two developers provided some interesting insight into Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies as well as Ace Attorney 6. It’s several pages long, so we went ahead and made a summary.

The most difficult aspect of developing Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies was moving platforms from DS to 3DS. At the time, Capcom hesitated as to whether to keep the series in 2D or make it 3D. Because of the 3DS’ selling point had been about three-dimensional views, they decided to pursue the latter option.

Something similar happened with Ace Attorney Investigations. That title took more time to develop because they needed to create a new gameplay mechanism from scratch. However, when Capcom then made Ace Attorney Investigations 2, they already had the base game set up so they could focus more on the scenario.

Capcom recently added a new quest for Monster Hunter X which adds Mega Man gear for your Palico. You can see what this DLC looks like in the video below.

Capcom is planning on sharing some big information from Ace Attorney 6 next week. On March 5 in North America and March 6 in Europe, a live stream will take place where the company will reveal “that” character as well as the game’s Japanese release date.

The broadcast will be streamed during the following times:

– 8 PM PT (March 5)
– 11 PM ET (March 5)
– 4 AM in the UK (March 6)
– 5 AM in Europe (March 6)

Capcom has sent out a new batch of screenshots from Ace Attorney 6. Today’s images, posted in the gallery below, show Athena Cykes and the Mood Matrix gameplay mechanic.

The Mood Matrix system – used by Athena – remains the same as in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies. There are four emotions analyzed in witness testimonies: happiness, sadness, anger and surprise. Your objective is to discover contradicting, unusual emotions that appear in the statements.
