LEGO Marvel’s Avengers details
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
Game Informer has posted a new preview of LEGO Marvel’s Avengers, which has a bunch of details. We’ve rounded up the information below.
– Based on the first two films
– New York City is attacked by the nefarious chitauri warriors
– Age of Ultron content in as well
– E3 demo begins with the invasion
– Civilians are pinned beneath wreckage, and Captain America, Hawkeye, and Black Widow have to rescue them by destroying wrecked cars and other debris
– Some of the debris is guarded by chitauri goons
– The characters are largely the same as in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes
– Some subtle differences with the characters compared to the last game
– Cap can walk through flames and now extinguish them with a mighty leap and a flame-smothering shield smash
– Characters can team up for special combo attacks
– These are context-sensitive
– Stand on a marked area and wait for your teammate (or A.I. buddy) to walk over and press a button for combos
– Then they perform a maneuver, which changes depending on the duo
– Captain America uses his shield as a platform for Black Widow, and she bounces into the air and sprays bullets down at the apex of her jump
– Thor rings Cap’s shield like a bell, destroying objects and enemies nearby
– Another combo: Cap reflect Iron Man’s energy attack to destroy airborne chitauri
– Over 100 all-new characters in the game
– All-new New York City hub
– Hub will have activities to keep players busy
More Zelda: Tri Force Heroes details
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 0 comments
– Zelda dress offers the appearance of more hearts
– Another outfit is fashioned like a wearable bomb
– One puzzle requires the three Links to form the totem and fire an arrow through a tall flame to light an out-of-reach unlit torch
– Need to make sure the right person goes on top and only the person on the bottom can toss everyone back down
– If you’re on top or in the middle, you are at the whim of the lowest man in the totem
– Margoma boss: get a bomb thrower on top of the totem to throw a bomb at its eye
– Once this is done, you need to switch out the totem to get an archer on top to fire arrows at the beast eyeballs
– Share hearts in the game
– Touch the icon of the other players on the lower screen to see exactly where they are
– Use emoticon-style icons to communicate and cheer on your friends.
– In single-player, you can have two AI Links
LEGO Dimensions – Portal details
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
– All of the Portal hallmarks remain
– This ranges from the constant sarcastic sass spouted by the chatty GLaDOS to the depressed tones of the eternally bummed out robot turrets
– The ‘cake is a lie’ graffiti makes an appearance on the concrete wall behind the lab’s facade
– Emphasis on Chell’s portal gun seems to have been reduced when it comes to puzzle-solving
– Uses the physical ‘toy pad’ peripheral
– Ex: at certain points, the three light-up sections of the toy pad need to be colored by positioning a character on a colored pad onscreen to ‘paint’ them, and then physically moving their actual minifig to the correspondingly coloured panel on the toy pad itself
– You may also need to find hidden items in the world using the toy pad as a guide
– The gun flashes red when going the wrong direction
– Gradually shifts to green as you head towards the right spot
– Not all puzzle-solving is about the toy pad
– At one point, you need to use an environmental ‘keystone’ to scale Batman to about ten times his normal size
– This allows his extra height to activate an otherwise out of reach lever
– Use Gandalf’s gift for magic to propel a levitated Companion Cube through a series of tubes and onto one of Aperture Science’s signature big red buttons

- Considering a hot key for save/load state
- There’s a platinum trophy for PlayStation 4

- They did not specify why the Wii U is being left out, just one of those “not right now” answers
Another set of Super Mario Maker details
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 5 Comments
– The various Mario generations have different rule sets
– Ex: 8-bit Mario can’t pick up a koopa shell, while the others can
– When you upload a level, it must have been beaten at least once, by you
– This is an effort to avoid totally unbeatable levels
– The disc will ship with several levels on it
– Levels can be downloaded and altered, but never re-uploaded
– This is to ensure that a level remains locked to its rightful owner
– You can only upload 10 total levels at one time
– This number can increase though if your levels are popular and receive lots of positive votes
– There is a 100 Mario challenge that involve playing randomly selected courses from across the internet
– There are curated lists by Nintendo, you can track a specific uploader, or browse using all kinds of specific filters
– A stage’s difficulty rating is dynamically set
– The more players who can finish it, the easier the rating will be
– The Mystery Mushroom changes Mario, but only cosmetically, so he will still function the same for all gameplay purposes
– Scan amiibo to play as them, but only when you find a Mystery Mushroom
– Link, Marth, Isabelle, Yoshi, Luigi, Wii Fit Trainer are confirmed amiibo thus far
– It is unclear if these other characters can also grab power ups, or how long you will even remain in this form
– Enemies can be spawned from blocks, even from power up blocks
– Mario can utilize various transportation items, even Bowsers floating ship from the end of Super Mario World
– Enemies can be placed in the water even if they don’t naturally live there, examples being Goombas and Bowser
– Enemies who didn’t normally have 8-bit sprites now have them, such as Wiggler
– Baby Bowser is in the game
– Enemies can appear from pipes, even if they don’t belong in there, such as fish or Koopas
– Magi Koopa is also in the game
– As if Bowser needed help, but it was shown that players can place items on him
– Playtest the game immediately by double tapping the screen

Metroid Prime: Blast Ball details
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 6 Comments
– Blast Ball is a part of Metroid Prime: Federation Force
– Teams of 3
– Go into Metroid-style mechs
– Use a first-person perspective and a massive arm-mounted cannon
– Try to knock an enormous, electrified orb into the opposing team’s goal
– Much like first-person soccer
– Keep the ball at bay with your blaster rather than your foot
– If you’re hit with the ball, your suit takes damage
– Taking too much damage means you need to wait to respawn
– Can also take damage from enemy fire
– Circle Pad: movement
– B button: jump
– A button: fire your cannon
– Fire the cannon in rapid bursts with quick presses, or a charged shot if held down
– Hold down “R” to strafe with the Circle Pad or fine-tune your aim with the gyroscope
– L button: lock onto the ball, keeping it front and center in your visor’s Prime-style display.
– While locked on to the ball, your mech’s lateral movement is much slower than you’d expect
– HUD cracks when you take too much damage
– Smooth frame rate
Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash details
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 1 Comment
– 1-on-1 (2 players) and doubles (four-player) matches on display at E3
– Giant Mode: Mega Mushrooms are occasionally thrown onto the court, seemingly at random
– Nab a Mega Mushroom, and your character will grow huge for an extended period
– Shots become more powerful and your reach much longer
– This mechanic requires some strategy, as hitting a power shot as a giant can knock back your opponents during their return shot, potentially leaving them vulnerable to a well-placed drop shot
– Grabbing the Mushroom pauses the action abruptly to play an animation
– When this happens, the game resumes the action a split-second in the past, allowing you time to get your bearings and get your timing right
– Mario, Bowser, Peach, and Toad in the demo
– Use combinations of button presses for a variety of trick shots—top spin, side spin, lob shots, and drop shots
– Charge up shots for a bigger bang, at the cost of reduced mobility if you misjudge ball placement

– To charge up the mecha’s power, there are pads strewn about that initiate a rhythm-based game where you press Y each time a wave reached the end of the circle
– The better you’re at it, the quicker the meter will charge
– Once charged, you can wipe out the Goombas by charging at them with the B button
– Once the enemy is down, the Mario mecha can spring out of its pad and unleash a devastating pounce that often destroys the enemy
– Mecha King Goomba is the boss of this mode
– When you dodge from him, Goomba leaves open an opportunity to attack
