Phantasy Star Online 2 Cloud

Phantasy Star Online 2 Cloud is now available for download on the Japanese Switch eShop. But as we know, service won’t actually start until April 4. While you can download the game, you won’t be able to do much for now.

It’s worth pointing out that Phantasy Star Online 2 Cloud has been notoriously difficult for those outside of Japan to access. Things could be the same on Switch, meaning fans in North America and Europe might be unable to play next month.

Phantasy Star Online 2 Cloud takes up 36.0MB of space.

Retailers are starting to take pre-orders for Sonic Mania Plus. Currently, Amazon has it here and GameStop has it here.

Sonic Mania Plus includes a physical copy of the game, a 32-page collector’s artbook, a reversible SEGA Genesis cover, and holographic packaging. The extra playable characters and new Encore Mode are also included.

In related pre-order news, Amazon started taking pre-orders for two more Switch releases today. You can reserve Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 + 2 here and Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles here.

A number of Sonic announcements were made during an official panel at SXSW on Friday. These included Sonic Mania Plus, the animated Sonic Mania Adventures animated shorts, and more.

SEGA has followed up with an official announcement recapping all of the news. Find that below, along with high quality art for Sonic Mania Adventures.

Shining Resonance Refrain Launch Edition

Famitsu held a live stream on Friday and showed off a ton of footage from Shining Resonance Refrain. You can see the full archive below.

SEGA made several announcements during its Sonic panel at SXSW today. To close out the event, the company teased an entirely different project.

Aside from the teaser below, we don’t have anything to go on. But intuition would tell you that it’s some sort of Sonic-related racing game – especially given past rumors over the past couple of months.

No name or anything else for this one. SEGA only said that it isn’t a sequel to any of the Sonic games released thus far. Hopefully we’ll hear more in the near future.

During its official panel at SXSW today, SEGA announced that Sonic Mania will be receiving a physical version.

Aside from enhancements, two new characters will be included – Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel. Also included is a new Encore Mode and expanded 4-player Competition Mode.

SEGA will soon be hosting a special panel at SXSW. “Gotta Go Fast: The Official Sonic the Hedgehog Panel” will take place today at 1:30 PM PT / 4:30 PM PT / 8:30 PM in the UK / 9:30 PM in Europe. Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka, Sonic Social Media Manager Aaron Webber, Sonic Product Development Director Austin Keys, Sonic Mania Animation Director Tyson Hesse and TV Animation Production Coordinator Jasmin Hernandez will be present for the panel.

In a press note sent out today, it was mentioned that SEGA “will discuss the future of the franchise, and some exciting new projects and collaborations.” If anything Nintendo or Switch-related happens to be announced, we’ll let you know. You can also watch the panel as it happens in the live stream below.

SEGA has released another new Japanese trailer for Valkyria Chronicles 4. This one shows off various terrain and stage hazards like mines and weather conditions:

SEGA has narrowed down the release window for Valkyria Chronicles 4 in the west slightly. Though we previously knew it was planned for this year, we can now say it’s coming this fall. That applies to both North America and Europe.

Retailers have started listing Valkyria Chronicles 4 for October 16. However, we don’t believe there’s much merit as that’s just a placeholder data.

You can access Valkyria Chronicles 4’s new English website here.

During the new Nintendo Direct this week, SEGA announced that Phantasy Star Online 2 Cloud is heading to Switch in Japan on April 4. The new website has now opened here.

On the site, SEGA confirms that Phantasy Star Online 2 Cloud takes up 40MB of space on Switch. As the name implies, everything runs through the cloud – hence the very small file size.
