GAME Brighton claims that a Shovel Knight amiibo is happening
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 71 Comments
Update 4: GAME is now taking pre-orders for the Shovel Knight amiibo.
Update 3: Bumped to the top. 4u2play’s listing is interesting, as it mentions co-op on Wii U and the ability to customize Shovel Knight.
Here’s the full translation (thanks Jake):
Coop Multiplayer (Wii U exclusive)
- Enter a friends’ game and shovel together!
- Special Coop-Moves support you on your journey together.
Full flexibility:
- Enter the level where you destroy your enemies and find precious treasures
- Earn never seen relicts, skills and powers.
- Alter the appearance of your Shovel Knight with cool cosmetic details.
User your personal amiibo seamless on Wii U and 3DS.
- The Shovel Knight amiibo will work with all Nintendo Products that Yacht Club Games will create in the near future.
- Compatible with Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL, Nintendo 2DS and Wii U.
Update 2: The Shovel Knight amiibo has also been listed by 4u2play.
Update: GAME’s tweet has been removed. We also have another, higher-quality image of the supposed amiibo from Reddit.
Is Shovel Knight getting its own amiibo? A tweet from UK retailer GAME claims that a figure based on Yacht Club Games’ character will actually be happening.
GAME Brighton posted the following on Twitter today:
JUST ANNOUNCED! A Shovel Knight amiibo. It’s out Nov 27th, you can preorder in store with us from tomorrow! #amiibo pic.twitter.com/rzFgLxT6bB

[Review] Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson
Posted on 9 years ago by Patrick(@Patricklous) in 3DS, 3DS eShop, Features, New Nintendo 3DS, Reviews | 33 Comments
System: Nintendo 3DS
Release date: August 27th, 2015 (EU) – September 15th, 2015 (NA)
Developer: Tamsoft
Publisher Marvellous, XSEED
Best girl: Rin
Let’s just get this out of the way first: Senran Kagura has always sold itself on the breasts of its female protagonists rather than the actual gameplay and on the surface this sequel is no different. It’s still all about teenage anime girls fighting it out in the perviest way possible and it’s bound to be a style that will alienate most of the console’s audience. Though it wouldn’t be particularly professional to do so as a reviewer, Senran Kagura 2 is absolutely the kind of game where it is reasonable to dismiss it based on the premise alone. That said, there is more to Deep Crimson than finally making good on the producer’s promise of viewing breasts in stereoscopic 3D and there are some welcome refinements to the brawler gameplay.
My only experience with the series prior to this was the Playstation Vita spin-off, Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus, a game I didn’t care for at all, which made it even more surprising when I ended up enjoying Deep Crimson quite a bit. I still have my misgivings about the game’s aesthetic, but the fast-paced combat and bizarre tone definitely filled a niche on the console’s library. Though the gravity-defying blobs the game calls breasts might still be Senran Kagura’s primary selling point, there is thankfully a bit more to it this time around.

[Review] Runbow
Posted on 9 years ago by Vincent Ward in Reviews, Wii U eShop | 13 Comments
System: Wii U eShop
Release: August 27, 2015
Developer: 13AM Games
Publisher: 13AM Games
Author: Vincent
It’s not too often that an indie release comes around and blows my expectations out of the water. But with Runbow, it appears that the folks over at 13AM Games have successfully created a title worthy of being the exception. Bringing a new concept to the platformer genre is about as difficult as it gets, and it’s even harder to make it all work. Yet with Runbow, the developer has gracefully created a game filled with as much innovation as there is fun. Also, did I mention you get to play as Shovel Knight and Rusty?

Sin & Punishment 1 and 2 officially hitting the North American Wii U Virtual Console tomorrow
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 7 Comments
Update: Another listing just popped up on Nintendo’s website. Looks like we’re getting Sin & Punishment: Star Success tomorrow as well. Pricing is set at $19.99.
And here’s the overview:
Take aim, and blast your way through a postapocalyptic world packed with nonstop arcade-shooter action in Sin & Punishment: Star Successor, the sequel to a Japanese Nintendo 64 cult classic. As Isa or Kachi, you’ll go on the run and on the defensive, shooting everything in sight as you’re bombarded with foes determined to hunt you down.
This intense, adrenaline-soaked thrill ride never lets up from start to finish. Sin & Punishment: Star Successor delivers one-of-a-kind shooter gameplay created by true masters of the genre. Lock and load.
Sin & Punishment is launching on the North American Wii U Virtual Console tomorrow, Nintendo’s website confirms. You’ll be able to purchase the classic N64 game for $11.99.
Here’s an overview from Nintendo’s listing:
The legendary studio Treasure delivers a high-energy thrill ride gamers recognize as one of the finest Nintendo 64 titles. On a future Earth starved for resources, a new species engineered for consumption has mutated into monsters. Run, gun, and slash your energy sword through level after level of nonstop destruction to end their reign of terror.
Not to be outdone by the action, however, the story line lends the game its soul and draws you even further into the mix. Uncover the intriguing mystery of teenagers Saki and Airan as they go head-to-head with rival groups claiming to protect the Earth. A variety of options and a number of different skill levels are all you’ll have to prepare yourself for the full-blown challenge of Turbo Hard mode. Take a deep breath, gather your energy, and feast your senses on this unforgettable high-speed roller coaster of Sin and Punishment.
Sin & Punishment, along with its sequel Star Successor, were rated by the ESRB yesterday. It’s unclear when the latter title will be available in North America.
Minecraft: Story Mode heading to Wii U
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 31 Comments
Minecraft: Story Mode is on its way to Wii U, according to The Verge. While it isn’t the core Minecraft game that has seen a huge amount of success, this will be the series’ first appearance on a Nintendo system.
Developer Telltale Games told The Verge that with its new game, they hope to reach players outside of the Minecraft fandom as well as introduce new people to the franchise.
Here’s a trailer released back in July:
And below is an official overview:
“Minecraft: Story Mode is an adventure game set in a Minecraft world. It is a five-part episodic series that will take you to the Nether, the Farlands, the End, and beyond! You will drive how the story flows through the decisions you make: what you say to people (and how you say it), and what you choose to do in moments of thrilling action.
You are Jesse. He and his group of friends revere the legendary Order of the Stone; four adventurers that slayed an Ender Dragon. The Order are the very best at what they do: Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer, and Architect. While at EnderCon, Jesse and his friends discover that something is wrong… something dreadful. Terror is unleashed, and they must set out on a journey to find The Order of the Stone if they are to save their world from oblivion.”
Minecraft: Story Mode will debut later this year.

Rumor: Sources say Shovel Knight is coming to Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Rumors | 49 Comments
If the latest rumors are to be believed, Shovel Knight will be coming to Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS as a DLC character.
Nintendo Life heard the apparent news from “multiple sources within the video game retail sector”. However, Shovel Knight’s inclusion in the games has of course not been confirmed (or denied) at this time.
The announcement about Shovel Knight being added to Super Smash Bros. could be made within the next month or two. Development is said to be going well, and the character – who would be getting its own amiibo – may release sooner rather than later.
