Mario Rabbids Sparks Hope Rayman

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is fast approaching, and Ubisoft recently held a hands-on event for the media. After spending a few hours with the game, we also had a chance to speak with associate producer Quentin Correggi. Correggi touched on combat changes that have been made compared to Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, the work and detail being put into the animation, his excitement for bringing back Rayman, and more.

You can read our full discussion with Correggi. We also have a video version at the end of this post.

It’s been a long time coming, but in just a couple of weeks, we’ll finally be getting a first glimpse at the Super Mario Bros. animated movie. We’ve known about the film for years, but Nintendo and Illumination have yet to share any sort of look at the film. That changes in early October though, as it’s been confirmed that the first teaser trailer will debut at New York Comic Con.

You could make the case that Nintendo has a lot riding on this film. As fans know, the company really hasn’t explored the movie space. After the 1993 live-action Mario film which was derided, Nintendo wasn’t too interested in exploring movies.

With the animated Mario movie trailer coming in very soon, what do you hope that the teaser will show? What do you personally expect from the video? Do you have any hopes and dreams for the movie overall? Let us know in the comments.

Splatoon 3 review

System: Switch
Release Date: September 9, 2022
Developer: Nintendo
Publisher: Nintendo

It’s hard to believe that such a fresh property like Splatoon has already been around for seven years, but Nintendo’s IP that introduced the cute little humanoid squids known as Inklings quickly resonated with fans despite being on the commercial failure that was the Wii U. It was when Splatoon 2 took off, however, that the franchise truly found its following thanks to the Switch’s success. Interestingly, the quick turnaround rate of two years for Splatoon 2 to release made the game feel almost too familiar. But to the uninitiated, Splatoon 2 gave those same feelings that Splatoon 1 did to those that owned a Wii U. Meanwhile, Splatoon 3 had a chance to marinate for years – five years to be exact – and has seen vast improvements to the overall structure of the game and its heavily-focused online portion that doesn’t feel anywhere near as dated, bringing the game and its multiplayer inking glory to the modern day while looking as beautiful as ever.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope multiplayer

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope won’t feature any sort of multiplayer modes. That’s according to Quentin Correggi, the associate producer on the game.

We recently had the opportunity to speak with Correggi, and one of the topics we discussed is whether the game will feature PvP like the original title. That led to the confirmation that Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is scrapping multiplayer entirely, with the game planned “exclusively a solo experience.”

Theatrhythm Final Bar Line song list all tracks

The Theatrhythm series is back and is seeing its first appearance on Switch with Theatrhythm Final Bar Line, and we have the full song list thanks to the official Japanese website. Square Enix and indieszero are going all out here with nearly 400 tracks in the main game alone. Even more songs will be offered via DLC throughout 2023.

Detective Pikachu 2

During the Pokemon Press Conference 2019, a number of experiences were announced, including a new Detective Pikachu game for Switch. We’ve essentially heard nothing about the project since then, but there’s a chance that it could be released fairly soon.

It’s been spotted that Jonathan Murphy, a senior programmer at Creatures Inc. and Pokemon TCG Development Division, specifically mentions that Detective Pikachu 2 is “nearing release”. An unannounced project is there as well.

Super Mario Bros. movie New York Comic-Con

The first teaser trailer for the Super Mario Bros. animated movie will be shown at New York Comic Con, it’s been announced.

Those attending the expo will be able to see the video on October 6 at 4 PM. Presumably the video will be posted online later on – if not the same day, it should be live not too long after that.

Mario Rabbids Sparks of Hope preview

Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle was one the plucky plumber’s most unexpected and off-the-wall adventures in a long time when it released in 2017; it quickly became one of my favorite games on the Switch thanks to its simple but satisfying tactics and its delightfully quirky vibes. I was excited to have the opportunity to play its upcoming sequel, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, for nearly four hours at a recent Ubisoft preview event, where I experienced large chunks of the game’s combat, exploration, and story across a handful of different in-game planets. So far, what I’ve played of Sparks of Hope has me feeling confident that the game will be a substantial evolution of everything that made Kingdom Battle so special, and it seems poised to be Mario’s most memorable adventure in quite a while.

It’s time for the latest North American Nintendo Download report for the week of September 22, 2022. The latest releases include The DioField Chronicle, Shovel Knight Dig, Tunic, and more.
