ESRB rating suggests Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is coming to Switch

If a new ESRB rating is anything to go by, Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is coming to Switch. A classification for the game was just added to Nintendo’s platform.
Back in May, Techland chief technical officer Pawel Rohleder teased that the company “might have a surprise for the Nintendo Switch later this year.” 2019 is quickly drawing to a close and this ESRB rating was just made known, so it’s looking almost like a lock that we’ll be seeing Call of Juarez: Gunslinger on Switch.

Game Freak on why it took so long for a Pokemon console game
Posted on 5 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 0 comments
Pokemon has long been known as a handheld-only series. Thanks to the hybrid nature of Switch, that’s finally starting to change. Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu / Eevee got things started last year and allowed fans to experience the games on an actual television. Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield are continuing the trend on Switch and will mark an entirely new generation that can be played on the big screen.
In the latest issue of Game Informer, producer Junichi Masuda was asked why it took so long for a Pokemon console game. He first noted the importance of maintaining an open experience in which players can connect with others in real-life, explaining:

[Review] Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition
Posted on 5 years ago by Edan(@@Virtualboi92) in Reviews, Switch | 0 comments
System: Switch
Release date: September 26, 2019
Developer: THQ Nordic
Publisher: THQ Nordic
Earlier this year, THQ Nordic treated us to a rather lovely Switch port of Darksiders – titled Darksiders Warmastered Edition – that proved, if nothing else, to be a bit of a technical achievement. Being a fast-paced hack and slasher that relies on precise inputs and visual cues, it gave Switch owners the choice of either playing the game at high resolution and 30 frames per second, or at a lower resolution whilst running at 60 frames per second. This choice, and the work that went into making it possible, resulted in a technically magnificent game that drew plenty of praise across the Switch community. As we near the all-important holiday season, THQ Nordic has decided to bolster its late 2019 lineup with a Switch port of the game’s sequel, Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition.

Game Freak considered changing up turn-based battle system and number of moves for Pokemon Sword/Shield
Posted on 5 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 0 comments
Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield are the next true entries in the franchise. This is also the latest generation and the first new one on a console. Given those aspects, it makes sense that Game Freak re-examined all aspects of gameplay while developing Pokemon Sword/Shield.
Planning director Kazumasa Iwao spoke with Game Informer in the magazine’s latest issue as to how Game Freak approaches keeping the experience fresh, stating:

Kirby namesake John Kirby has passed away
Posted on 5 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
John Kirby is a pretty important part of Nintendo history. Kirby represented Nintendo as its lawyer when the company was facing litigation from Universal, which claimed that Donkey Kong was based on King Kong. After Kirby led Nintendo to victory in that case, he was given a $30,000 sailboat known as the Donkey Kong, and also became the namesake of the famous video game character Kirby.
Sadly, John Kirby passed away on Wednesday due to complications of the blood cancer Myelodysplastic syndrome. He was 79. While Kirby is no longer with us, his importance to Nintendo will not be forgotten, and he’ll always be remembered thanks to his namesake.

Origins of the names for Pokemon Sword and Shield, Zacian and Zamazenta
Posted on 5 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 0 comments
For its latest cover story, Game Informer was able to visit Game Freak in Japan to learn more about Pokemon Sword/Shield. Some interesting information was shared about the naming origins for the two titles as well as their Legendary Pokemon.
As for Pokemon Sword/Shield, their names came about very late in development. Game Freak decided to just look at the Legendary Pokemon they created – one was based around a sword while the other featured a shield, so they decided to go with that. Game Freak also felt there was something to the fact that “sword” and “shield” are strong words while Pokemon are cute. You’d also have to think about the power behind having a sword/shield and whether you would attack/protect.
Regarding Zamazenta and Zacian, director Shigeru Ohmori wanted to get back to naming things after colors. Zamazenta stems from magenta and Zacian has ties to cyan.
