Horned Knight

The 2D action-platformer Horned Knight was announced for Switch a few months ago, and now we have a concrete release date. It will be out on February 26, according to an eShop listing.

We have the following overview and trailer for Horned Knight:

Drawn to Life: Two Realms

505 Games and Digital Continue have shared the full patch notes for the recent Drawn to Life: Two Realms update. We previously noted that version 1.1 adds touch screen support for the Draw Tool and new content, but a number of issues have been addressed as well.

Below are the full patch notes:

Dragon Quest XI S

Plans for games often change during development, and Dragon Quest XI is no exception. In a recent interview published by Square Enix, 3D art director Yoshiko Hiyama revealed that for Heliodor, there was originally “an idea to include a well that connects to an underground area – an element that follows traditional gameplay found in Dragon Quest games.”

That plan was scrapped, though it did end up elsewhere. As for why it didn’t make sense in Heliodor, Hiyama said the city “was already quite voluminous” and there was already a secret passage.

Hiyama’s full words:

You may recall that, in December, Nintendo released a new “Remastered” update for Swapnote. The whole situation was rather confusing. Not only was there any indication of what was new or changed, but it seemed random to issue an update for an application that hadn’t been touched in quite some time.

Now it’s been made clear what the situation was about. As pointed out by OatmealDome, Nintendo only put out the patch to address a vulnerability in which an attacker could potentially run any sort of code they created over StreetPass. MrNbaYoh earned nearly $1,700 by reporting the exploit to Nintendo.

A new month rolled right on in last week. Now that we’re in February, we want to know what you’ve been playing.

Have you picked up some of the latest Switch games like Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury or Atelier Ryza 2? Playing through something in your backlog? No matter the case, let us know in the comments below.

Monster Hunter Rise

Best Buy has revealed a special pre-order bonus for Monster Hunter Rise. By reserving the game, you’ll get the steelbook pictured above. We’re hearing that those who reserved Monster Hunter Rise before the steelbook offer was announced should have their orders automatically updated.

Also remember that there’s another pre-order bonus planned for Monster Hunter Rise. Retailers are giving out a pack containing the Palamute Golden Retriever Costume (layered armor), Palico Forest Cat Costume (layered armor), and Stat Boosting Novice Talisman.

Monster Hunter Rise releases for Switch on March 26. You can pre-order on Best Buy here.

Super Mario Bros.

For as long as the world has known Mario, he’s essentially had one voice. Charles Martinet has been playing the character for around three decades.

We know that Mario has his first ever animated movie coming up, though it’s unclear if Martinet will be involved. During an interview with Stardust Blaze, he mentioned that the film “sounds like great fun, and if they invite me to play, I’ll go in and play with great joy and happiness.”

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

Grezzo has worked on a few different Zelda games in recent years, including the Switch remake of Link’s Awakening. The developer is now hiring for a new project that is described as “medieval” and “stylish”.

In a job listing for one programmer, it’s indicated that the game will use Unity, VisualStudio, git, redmine, and jenkins. The staffer would be involved from the ground floor with the planning team (so it’s more than just programming). Grezzo is looking for someone with experience in Unity with C#, someone who likes games, and can great things with the player mindset.
